PsiChi: All those into intellectual integrity should check out Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth's website. Anyone who saw the "attacks," even on TV, could tell that this was a planned demolition. Well, three planned demolitions: Link

Here's the thing. The same freaks in our government who did this have more surprises in store for us here in the United States, and probably very soon. Please delve into this, people, if you haven't already. If they'll kill so many innocents here, just to start a war and make money for the military-industrial complex off their blood, they will do anything, and I do believe they're about to here. And just as they tried to blame it on "brown people," "Muslims," and "Iraq," they will now try to pin it on Russia, and Iran, and who knows who else. And it won't just be a couple of buildings falling down.

Time is of the essence.

Well actually, the planes that hit the towers triggered the explosives that were already in place. It wasn't quite a controlled demolition, more like what Bob Ross (nee al-Maseeh) would call "a happy accident."

It's interesting that prosecution of Jihadists spiked the year Obama took the oath of office.

What, was Bush holding them in reserve?

That appears to be a somewhat misleading graph - number of defendants isn't a very good metric. Also, there's no context - a guy is charged in 2008 and his case lasts into 2009 - is he counted in both charts? Is it based on when the case is filed, or when it goes to trial? What charges specifically constitute "terrorism-related"?

I'd really like more information about that chart before I relied on it for any sort of argument. Also, I believe the answer to your question is yes - there were quite a few on ice at Gitmo, remember? Bush had been trying them all with military tribunals, but Obama brought them to federal court until Congress forced him to stop transferring them. That's my recollection, at least, but I could be wrong. That could be one explanation for the 2009 spike, however - "defendants" means in courts as opposed to tribunals, so the previous cases weren't counted. Again, more info on the chart needed.

Marine1: ghare: Marine1: Al-Qaeda. The Taliban.

There, I just summed up who we should be fighting. If we're not, that's bad, but it doesn't negate the fact that those people are to our detriment.

Not really very much. Look up the number of Americans killed by terrorists in the last oh, 12 years. Then, you could look at other causes of unnatural death.

Terrorism as a risk to the average American is in no possible way worth all the money we spend fighting it. Especially when you throw in the "Invade Iraq because Saudis who were hiding in Afghanistan/Pakistan attacked us" part.

http://danger.mongabay.com/injury_death.htm

I didn't say that Iraq was a good idea.

I said that fighting those who wish to harm us would be a good idea.

Yeah, in theory, but like most theories it's not applicable to the real world without significant modification. Our "war on terror" is not cost effective when you look at actual risk. And if we, as a country, don't feel like paying the taxes necessary to cover the bills, then we should focus on other things.

Anecdotal evidence, but the vast majority of truthers that I've met personally were Republicans and/or Libertarians (mostly Ron Paul supporters). I'm sure there are some liberal truthers, but they don't seem to be as common.

Of course, I've heard this nonsense about trutherism somehow being a "liberal" thing before. It's a common lie that people who want to draw false equivalency between the craziness of the left and the right like to tell. In reality, it's not really a left vs. right thing, but a sane vs. crazy thing.

As far as I am concerned America changed itself to accommodate for the actions of the very few. This country wasn't dealing with a fellow superpower or some invading alien species, we were dealing with some fringe religious believers that were the minority of their own religion.

It's like oatmeal being outlawed because a bunch of Quakers blew up some buildings due to them viewing their image being tarnished at the breakfast table.

I think the problem is that we are now defining "terrorist" to include a mental patient who shot a building manager in the arm. That kind of dilution of the meaning of the word leads to the belief that terrorists aren't that big of a deal anymore. (NO, that does not mean that I think the boogey man is out to get me - just that we should be focusing on "real" terrorists, not some nutjob walking down the street)

Kinda like saying "everybody has SOME sort of depression"...followed by... Depression isn't a big deal for most people who suffer from it.

I assume the "asinine" tag is for the author's definition of terrorism.

Or was he implying that a lone gunman shooting someone in the arm over an ideological difference was intended to alter government policies through the intimidation of the civilian populace?

Story: Was flying out of Denver, going through security including the whole-body imaging. After I was done two TSA agents told me to come with them to the "little room". While I was being searched I asked them how they decide who gets frisked, etc.

You know what their answer was? "Random". Can you think of a WORSE way to screen for possible terrorists? F*cking random? That means the camel-humper gets through security while the TSA is searching some 88 year-old back in the room. F*cking random...unbelievable.

If you're going to effectively secure an airline for dangerous passengers you HAVE to profile, period.
