Marine1: Al-Qaeda. The Taliban.

There, I just summed up who we should be fighting. If we're not, that's bad, but it doesn't negate the fact that those people are to our detriment.

Not really very much. Look up the number of Americans killed by terrorists in the last oh, 12 years. Then, you could look at other causes of unnatural death.

Terrorism as a risk to the average American is in no possible way worth all the money we spend fighting it. Especially when you throw in the "Invade Iraq because Saudis who were hiding in Afghanistan/Pakistan attacked us" part.

You know, it would be one thing if I'd lost so many freedoms due to a competent adversary. I'd still be upset, but I'd at least understand it. But no, the government wants me to live in pants-shiatting terror of guys who set their shoes on fire on planes, or light their cranks on fire on planes, or try to build bombs out of cans of gasoline and firecrackers, or come up with devastatingly clever plots like bringing the Brooklyn Bridge down with a blowtorch, or blowing up the Holland Tunnel so water could flow uphill toward Wall Street, or taking out the Sears Tower with nothing bad thoughts. Hell, the one plan they were successfully able to carry out in this country apparently shot their entire wad of sleeper-cell suicidal malcontents, managed to hit only 75% of its targets, and killed just 3,000 people in buildings that had closer to 50,000 people total in them.

No, rather than some super-genius nemesis, we're supposed to be scared of a bunch of primitive, cave-pooping nitwits who spend most of their time arguing over how much facial hair their sky daddy thinks they should have, the best way to carpet their women, and which ancient statues should be blown up.

Terrorists are morons. They succeeded on 9/11 not because they were good, but because they were reasonably lucky.

The greatest threat to my life is the daily commute to work, the delicious package of bacon in my fridge, and my penchant for power tools coupled with a disinclination toward safety gear. Terrorism isn't even in the top ten list of things threatening me.

Religious fundamentalists who use violence to further their means. Specifically, in this case, those who follow militant Islam.

Right.

Which is why "we" attacked Iraq.

You're right the west would never prop up dictators in the middle east, that later sowed the seeds of radical religious zealots seizing control. That would never happen.

I mean what was their other choice? Become Marxists, and suffer the same fate? The only solution was capitulate or become so bat shiat crazy they wouldn't touch you with a 10 foot pole.... we left them pretty good options.

Sometimes you just have to force people to be free. Right?

what happened to bldg 7?
why did it fall like a controlled demo?
why did the owner of bldg 7, while on TV admit he said to go ahead and "pull it" (term used in demo)
If it was a controlled demo, wouldn't that have taken 1-2 weeks to prepare for a total collapse?

Why was bldg 7 left out completely of the 9/11 commission.

Here's the thing. The same freaks in our government who did this have more surprises in store for us here in the United States, and probably very soon. Please delve into this, people, if you haven't already. If they'll kill so many innocents here, just to start a war and make money for the military-industrial complex off their blood, they will do anything, and I do believe they're about to here. And just as they tried to blame it on "brown people," "Muslims," and "Iraq," they will now try to pin it on Russia, and Iran, and who knows who else.
