robohobo: Free speech, where did it go?
jodaveki: It'd be interesting to see if this kind of sentiment has been expressed as frequently during past presidencies. I just don't recall so much viceral hate toward such as Bush I or II, or Clinton. How about Carter? Or Nixon?
PanicMan: I really wish the SS had an official FB and twitter and actually publicly shamed people like this.
hugram: FYI... the cop is a she...
robohobo: Rwa2play: robohobo: Free speech, where did it go?So I guess you're the type that'll yell "fire!" in a crowded theater amirite?Lol, it's called Fark for the most of GWB's years in office. But this is different, since it's black Jesus, amirite?
jodaveki: It'd be interesting to see if this kind of sentiment has been expressed as frequently during past presidencies.
Zarquon's Flat Tire: That's a stupid thing for a public employee to post, but I don't know that it counts as a threat.
Sargun: William Manchester's book, for example, discusses the "initial glee" with which right-wingers greeted news of the assassination. "An Oklahoma City physician beamed at a grief-stricken visitor and said, 'Good. I hope they got Jackie.'" In Amarillo, Texas, a woman reacted by saying: "Hey, great, JFK's croaked!" Men whooped and threw their hats in the air. Others smiled broadly. Soon, however, the right-wingers realized that their public gloating was a ghastly mistake, whereupon they began concealing their happiness. "[T]hey were anxious to avoid the undertow of public opinion," Manchester says.
Cythraul: kid_icarus: So you're a policeman...and you seriously don't know better than this? I don't care what your politics are. The same stupidity would apply if this were 5 years ago and we were dealing with a left-leaning cop while Bush was in office. There are certain lines you just don't cross, especially if you're a civil servant allowed to carry firearms.Left-leaning cop? Is there such a thing?
kid_icarus: So you're a policeman...
srhp29: Rwa2play: robohobo: Free speech, where did it go?So I guess you're the type that'll yell "fire!" in a crowded theater amirite? If you want to get all technical...I don't find wondering where two dead guys are threatening to anyone...He didn't follow up by saying, "I'll just take care of this myself".
abhorrent1: She's kinda cute[media.trb.com image 364x510]
cc_rider: Fecking hell. Those same people called us "traitors and commies" simply for speaking out against the Iraq War, and wanting Bush/Cheney impeached (for damn good reason). They talk about "Second Amendment solutions" to a president they simply don't like, and call themselves "Patriots". :/
Cozret: Oh come on! He put a smiley face on the end. Poe's Law says that makes it clear it's a joke. . .that is how that works, right? :)
The One True TheDavid: Oh please. In the first place that's not a threat, it's a thought-crime; in the second place inviting anyone to do anything does not necessarily lead to getting what you ask for or I'd have long ago switched to begging Farkers to stop blowing me.
That Guy in the Dos Equis Commercials: robohobo: Free speech, where did it go?Freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consaequences, dumbass.
Cythraul: Left-leaning cop? Is there such a thing?

NightOwl2255: On the few occasions I have engaged one of these "wish Obama was dead" kinds, I have yet to hear anything that is even remotely reasonable for the hate. There's the "he's a Muslim" and "he wants to turn the U.S. over to the UN" and the ever popular "he wants to take away our guns". In every case I really believe the hate comes down to one simple fact, he's a ni*DING*erprogressive who wants to fundamentally change or undermine American lifestyle and ideals.
super_grass: Just a little perspective for y'all.

Otto_E_Rodika: Selective outrage over hyperbolic speech. Hypocrisy at its finest. How quickly the left forgets that vitriol and overt threats made against Bush. This film even won a number of awards and praise from Roger Ebert. A filmed assassination of a sitting president. But remember, it's just a movie when the left does it.[www.statebrief.com image 282x400]
grimlock1972: I am all for free speech , but think before you type people.
MooseUpNorth: Some perspective for you: He was utterly, completely, totally, unconscionably wrong for expressing that.
ThrobblefootSpectre: Cops are (generally) low-paid unionized government employees.
GBB: robohobo: Free speech, where did it go?Public servants are not private citizens.
