"We create things that move people," he said. "We're in a business where everything we do has an emotional side to it."

You make red, white and blue cloth. It doesnt become important untill long after it leaves your sweatshop.

I'll reiterate what others are saying. I don't care to celebrate or reflect the day thousands of people were killed and initiated the deaths of thousands more. Why celebrate the times governments and other groups lose themselves and put their actions ahead of the citizens they represent?
Celebrate your family and friends. If they died in a war or some other tragedy, celebrate their birthday. Remember sharing a good time rather than reflecting on sitting next to them as they lay dying on a hospital bed with tubes down their throats and up their noses.

Thanks guys.

rufus-t-firefly: Steel doesn't have to melt to lose strength. They think that steel has to be dripping liquid to lose structural support.

It's even simpler than that. To "melt" implies flowing under its own weight, but when you have a skyscraper to hold up, that's a lot of weight.

I have some from of troother OCD, wher I must point out they are an idiot, even though every non-idiot already knows this.

At my last job I shared an office with another contract who was an engineer as well, my second day on the job he tells me that it was an inside job and the Israelis did it. I had to spend half an hour explaining the mechanical properties of steel in stress.

Next month he told me he hates Jews.

oryx: I'd prefer to remember the freedom we had before 9/11, but has now been taken away.

I've long felt that that there should be a bill of rights day, during which people take advantage of the freedoms contained therein. I propose that it should occur on sept 11. Today, I will:
~Make an unpopular statement
~Purchase a few rounds for my rifle (I don't need a new gun)
~ Call my friend C.C. and tell him that he can't sleep on my sofa.
~ Tell a policeman that he can't search my car (only valid if I'm pulled over)
~ Request due process somehow.
~ Request a trial by jury if it comes up
~ biatch about something being done by the feds and not by the state.

I'm not sure how many freedoms I've really lost. A lot has been discouraged, but we can lay claim to much.

fireclown: ~ Call my friend C.C. and tell him that he can't sleep on my sofa.

You have to call his C.O. and tell him you're not letting his soldier crash on your couch, and he needs to provide alternate quarters.

rufus-t-firefly: mister aj: Q: Why is the melting point of steel lower than the temperature at which petroleum burns?

This is my favorite of all the ignorant truther arguments.

Steel doesn't have to melt to lose strength. They think that steel has to be dripping liquid to lose structural support.

Protip: Steel loses over half its strength in temperatures well within the range of burning aviation fuel.

BUT OMG CHICKEN WIRE AND CONCRETE.

Yep, all those folks that develop jet engines are fools for paying all that money for special alloys. Any troofer could have told them that regular mild steel can withstand any jet fuel fire!

OMG, jet engine manufacturers are all in on the conspiracy!!!! That's what it is!

Because I didn't notice the next sentence in the post I was replying to which said "She..." . I was trying to be gender neutral since in this day and age, male secretaries are not unusual. Neither are males which participate on either end of activities known as "teabagging". NTTAWWT.

The poor guy, though. Can you imagine for the rest of your life having to watch a celebrity funeral every single birthday? And not even being able to go out with your friends and have a good time because they're mopey, the waitress is depressed, the TV in the corner is showing nonstop memorial services, and the jukebox plays nothing but The Best of Rudy Giuliani (K-13 is the 9/11/2002 "First Anniversary - Extended Cut", all 22 minutes!).

You can't even go to a ball game without having to stand and listen to God Bless America, and you can't just not stand or you're all of a sudden a Bad Person.

Do you really think that steel has to melt to be worked? Did you know that concrete melts at a lower temperature than steel? Oh noe's, the whole 3000 year history of forging metal has been a lie just to support the 9/11 conspiracy and big coal.

That is lead mixed with combustible office materials, and which also demonstrates the tilting of the floor pans and thus supports NIST's conclusion regarding the global failure of the Tower.

Yes there is, particularly on the 81st floor of WTC2.

fireclown: And so I shall. Or, would it be possible for me to simply charge his CO for the space his soldier is taking up on my sofa?

Engblom v. Carey, 677 F.2d 957 (2d Cir. 1982), on rem. 572 F. Supp. 44 (S.D.N.Y. 1982), aff'd. per curiam 724 F.2d 28 (2d Cir. 1983)

In this case, prison guards had residences on the prison grounds assigned to them as part of their salary. When they went on strike, the governor ordered in the National Guard to do their jobs for the duration of the strike. He then evicted the guards from their state-supplied residences to make room for the National Guard troops. The Court said he shouldn't have done that.

This means that the simple act of quartering the soldiers involuntarily was a breach of the Third Amendment, regardless of any compensation to the rightful occupants of the housing. At least, that's how I read it. It could be argued that your lack of objection could be taken as assent to the situation, so receiving any type of compensation not agreed upon would be unlikely. I would get something in writing before I allowed the soldier in the house.

OK, thanks, that makes sense. I've worked with UPS systems in computer rooms and solar-powered off-grid cabins. They look like cabinets full of car batteries. Because they are cabinets full of car batteries.
