When it comes to exercising the better part of valor no one does it better than the French.

Syria's most prominent defector, General Manaf Tlass, has hinted that French secret agents helped him escape from Syria, where he had long been a member of President Bashar al-Assad's inner circle.

"The French [intelligence] services helped me get out of Syria and I thank them for that," Tlass, w

Apropos of nothing, it's good to see you man. Like most of us, I hope you one day can escape to Sanctuary, over the hill, to the Promised land, and maybe I am selfish to be happy to see you back, but it's good man, it's good.

Eh, I'd give them credit for the Battle of the Somme. They did hold off the Germans for us :)

/Plus there were a handful of tactical victories during the Blitzkrieg of 1940. They ultimately failed to stem the tide of the German advance, but it was the better than what the British Expeditionary Force did, which was simply to retreat to Dunkirk.

French: No, it's too perilous.

This, they say they're just like regular folks. Its the "elite" educated, aragula eating, bleeding heart Democrat Guard that the Syrians fear.

First of all, you are dumb to the point you can't even spell Napoleon.

Secondly, one of the last defeats of the french military was in Vietnam, and you certainly are aware of how the US managed to get the nation's ass handed to them in that very same conflict.

Thirdly, France isn't invading third world countries left and right like the US is doing for the past decades. This tends to lower the score, if there is one.

Considering they have troops in over 17 foreign countries (including several middle-eastern countries) totaling 36,000 deployed troops, 19,000 in combat areas, with only a few thousand under international banners (like the UN or KFOR) and less than a year ago invaded a tiny African nation and arrested their leader. Also France still has a very large colonial system with numerous territories still controlled by Paris.
So don't get too high and mighty on the US, who's huge military presence around the world and Europe is what allows most EU countries (like france) to keep their military's smaller, knowing the US will help them if they want, and then spending the savings on their social system, if it wasn't for us, EU countries would have to slash their social systems by as much as 25% to make up their defense seystems wich we cover for them. So thank us for that

Also about Vietnam, we only went in due to a treaty the french had us sign and then they backed out (after Dein Bein Fu, where the french lost really bad like they did in North Africa) leaving the US, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia holding the bag and fighting the Frenches war. And last I checked when the US backed out in 1973 the North Vietnamese army had lost over 30% of their soldiers 80% of their heavy equipment, most of their Air Force and had a 50% desertion rate (one former NVA general said that had the US sent troops over the border instead of just bombers they would have surrendered). In fact the US never lost a ground battle, the RVA did especially in 1975, but the US lost on the homefront because of a war that dragged out because our politicians were pussies and refused to allow us to invade the north and that our only goal was to protect the south (until we ditched them in 1973).
Really. Read a military history book or any of a dozen interviews done with former NVA generals
