THIS

Why do something that could actually benefit someone who needs help when you can call attention to yourself with an empty gesture?

meatsack_01: El Freak: It's been 11 farkING YEARS!! Can we start getting the hell over it and MOVING ON already? People weren't derping this hard about December 7 after WWII, were they?

The death toll was about the same so, no. The unprovoked and tragic loss of roughly three thousand Americans is not something to forget, no. I knew someone in one of those towers and I remember that day. So, no. I'll never forget. Too bad you have.

Perhaps you'd be happier living in another country.

Many more people have died since 2007 as a result of the Second Great Depression, an avoidable event inflicted by Americans on Americans, than on 9/11. To hell with ultranationalists who always call for war while out- and insourcing American jobs by the millions. With the likes of Blankfein, Dimon, Romney et al who needs bin Laden? Do you know people hiring in Canada? Germany? Scandinavia? The BeNeLux states? I'll take it over this moribund plutocrat's paradise.

Assuming that you're not lying about knowing someone that died in the towers, I'm going to ask you this: do you honestly have no problem with jingoistic crap like this that exploits their memory? You have no problem with their memory being used by politicians to score political points and to ramp up paranoia and fear for the last 11 years? You have no problem with talking heads and shiatty country musicians exploiting their memory to add more to their bank accounts? Personally, I'm BEYOND tired of the exploitation and turning this day into some tacky 3rd rate Memorial Day rip off.

I'm sorry for your loss, but maybe you should realize that most of the people screaming "NEVAR FORGET!!" and turning this day into an orgy of jingoistic patriotism don't actually give a goddamn about anyone who died that day. They're doing it for their own ends.

If you were in one of the buildings, one of the planes, or personally know someone on one of the previous two lists, you get a pass. Do what you gotta do, take whatever time you gotta take.

For everyone else, enough is freaking enough. Marking the first anniversary was one thing. Even marking the tenth anniversary was one thing. All the anniversaries in between, and this continuing crap, is quite another.

Though, in the interest of giving credit where it's due, if the guy can actually pull off singing that song (or any song) 911 times in a row, I'll be forced to give him points for style. Besides, that song is never getting out of his head again after this, and that's punishment enough.

BronyMedic: /so goddamn tired of all the parading and posturing about 9/11. How about a day of solemn remembrance, rather than one-upsmanship and attention whoring.

I don't have enough bears for how repeated this needs to be. Honor it or move past it; don't farking wave it around like it's part of your political platform.

It makes sense that whoever carried out the attacks would want you to never forget it, and who is working the hardest to make sure you don't?

Anyone who has dealt with tragedy knows you need to put it behind you in order to have a healthy life.

thecpt: That song is awful. Please use this land is your land.
Thank you.

And use the ORIGINAL VERSION. The one that contains the verses:

As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.

In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I'd seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?

PsiChi: Logical minds want to know.

Logical minds were answered a long time ago, many times over. Moronic minds rejected the answers, and will continue to do so until they get they answers they want to hear.

A-farking-men. Insipid, empty attention-whoring gestures are worse than doing NOTHING. fark off and die, faux-patriot. (the guy from the story, not you, Sgt. Otter)

Pray in whatever religion you practice, for everyone, for all on this very sad day of rememberance. Pray for forgiveness, healing, strength to remember, honor and to continue on living for those who are no longer are as a result of this terrible day, no matter what the real true reason or purpose behind 9/11 was.

If your are atheist or otherwise, keep loved ones close to your thoughts and hearts and be kind to your fellow humans.

That is all

"It will be with an international flavor ... because patriotism doesn't just belong to the United States," he said. "Next year people will be able to come and plant flags from other countries."

because nothing says "international inclusion" like repeatedly singing a song that implies that the united states has a monopoly on freedom.
