Yes, the economy might weakly recover, so let's jack up the oil and gas prices and stop it in its tracks!

For those of us that properly love cars and driving, the driving season never ends. I drive year-round!

I had a million dollar idea once.

I called it a 'Jump to reasons to raise oil prices' mat.

You see, I'd sell it to fuel companies and oil producing nations and when they needed to raise prices they could 'jump' to a reason they could give the press.

You forget that as commodity prices go up, so does ^DJI.

Damn Obama and all his useless regulations, forcing the oil companies to do this.

Because fark you, that's why.

/local price jumped from $4.13 this morning to $4.29 by noon

Here the onset of winter causes prices to jump as most people use fuel oil since we don't have access to natural gas.

2012-09-10 04:10:13 PM
Yes, we have the 'Spring gas season', where they raise prices to put out new mixtures, and then the 'early summer driving season', the 'summer driving season', and the 'late driving season'. Add to that all of the months that contain both consonants and vowels, as well as having both even and odd-numbered days, AND days that end in 'y'. See? They really try hard to keep our prices down when you think about it.

How about we blame inflation. Get all consumer prices to jump 10% in one week, watch heads explode.

Just managed 48mpg last week. I have no idea how, considering I've become a goddamn hooligan. I ain't a-scurred of no price hikes. Bring it.

Look, people, when demand increases, OBVIOUSLY they will jack up the price! And how can you expect them not to jack up the price when demand decreases? Jesus, you people are f*cking unreasonable.

Well you know they have to start mixing in the fall and winter blends blahblahblah

Gotta be....collusion by the refiners. Refined product is more expensive now than it was in 2008 when a barrel of oil was over 140. A barrel of oil goes for 96 now. There is no real connect between the price of a barrel of oil and the price of gas when there should be. The refiners charge what they want and don't have to worry about anyone undercutting them..

Hey, shut up and pay! What else are you going to do, walk? Fat chance!

I thought a month ago that the era of high gas prices was over and gas was going to $2/gallon?

2012-09-10 10:06:31 PM
Like $4.02/gallon isn't enough. Its days like these I'm glad I drive a fart-mobile that gets 35-40 mpg.
/no it's not a hybrid.

shiat like this makes a guy want to run through a mall with a fully automatic weapon. Hang on there's somebody at my door

Aren't they about due to shut down all the refineries for maintenance at the same time again?

fredbox: Aren't they about due to shut down all the refineries for maintenance at the same time again?

Nah- it's still early September. Still plenty of time for another Gulf Coast hurricane scare, or California oil-refinery fire. Give it another month or two. *Then* they'll close everything at once for maintenence

Next week: "well gosh, I can't imagine why consumer spending is down."

2012-09-11 12:53:27 PM
It wouldn't be so bad if we had a choice. But, like, just the other day, I saw the price of oil, and I said to myself, "Damn, there is no way I am going to pay that much for oil." Then, as soon as the thought came to me, here come these three jack-booted thugs from Exxon-Mobil with guns. Sure enough, they told me that if I didn't buy oil they were going to kill me.
