If they're going to post an article written by a 17 year old girl OTR, she should at least be hot.

And quite butthurt it appears.

So having successfully neutered the press with years of whining about "liberal media bias", the next target for the GOP War on Reality is the fact checkers.

CLAIM: Michelle Obama openly promotes eating "healthy" and attempts to indoctrinate our children into a scheme of eating more fruits and vegetables.

FACT: Michelle Obama has openly admitted to eating pizza before while at the same time telling others to forego the scrumptious Italian cuisine. The fact of the matter is Michelle Obama wants you to have less pizza so that she and her fat cat liberal elitest husband can have more. As if the American people should eat like rabbits while her family enjoys the calorie rich, life sustaining wheels of cheesy doughy goodness.

Facts have a liberal bias. Makes perfect sense they'd want as few as possible.

First they came for the fact checkers, but I said nothing. Next they came for the 340 million registered Republicans and I said nothing...

So did the mods hire someone to just greenlight every townhall link farking submitted? Seriously mods, variety is the spice of life and you should perhaps start engaging in it with political links.

I've always taken objection to the "mostly true" label that fact checkers like to put on things.
If it isn't completely true, then it is not a fact, and you have no business checking it. Their only outputs should be "true", "false", "unknown", and "unverifiable"

Maybe if the Left Wing had several mouthpieces that consistently printed pants-on-head ridiculous stuff, there would be more balance in the submission queue.

Unfortunately, the best they have is the Washington Post, and even that's comparatively moderate.

The Conventions really were very different affairs, and I think that folks noticed that their "best and brightest" sort of failed to make the same impressions on folks. They had Eastwood admonishing a chair, and Clinton essentially jovially skullf*cking their talking points, and a charismatic President vs the Botlike Romney attempting to give a damn for a bunch of folks he wouldn't normally be seen with. And it showed.

When you back the wrong horse, you can either cheer LOUDER or you can throw the damn ticket away, and at this point, they paid their money, so they're going to keep screaming...

2012-09-10 09:11:57 AM
I'm sorry, GOP, is some of the media finally, in just a tiny, still sorry amount, starting to call you out on your bullshiat? That is just so sad for you.

Fark, tends toward the left, we need more intelligent right wing articles to put some doubt into the groupthink that happens when you get a bunch of people who agree.

Since we can seem to find the intelligent ones, we get the trolly ones instead.

professional trolling is all Republicans have left.

Sucks Fark would be so enabling of it, though I suppose money talks.

2012-09-10 09:49:03 AM
I won't say that members of the Democratic Party don't lie. They do. They clearly do. But there's a difference between how the Democratic Party lies and how the Republican Party lies. If you compared them to crimes, the Democratic Party would be guilty of something like petty theft, and the Republican Party would be guilty of first-degree murder.

2012-09-10 10:00:41 AM
Now I myself am not pleased with the editorializing that happens lately with fact checks, but when you have Republicans caught lying, and their response boils down to "Who the fark cares? It works", well you're going to get the short end of the fact checker stick.

Hell, people may start to assume everything out of your mouths is a lie

2012-09-10 10:06:06 AM
it must be very difficult for Republicans to venture out past their front doors. having to confront a reality that contradicts their ideology and no means of hitting back, or shutting down that source of information must be very frustrating for them.

Intelligent right wing...

Does not compute. Their ideas and policies have been thoroughly discredited by reality itself. Intelligent people realize this. Any intelligent Republican who continues to preach Republican ideas, is lying to you. Which is why they're having a tizzy over the existence of fact checkers.

Fact-checking has devolved into the violent art of conjuring anything possible to undermine the speaker's point, the way he made it, or his credibility as messenger.

Is "rhetorical violence" a thing now?

No. The paper that has people like Marc Thiessen, Jennifer Rubin, and Charles Krauthammer on staff is far from moderate.

2012-09-10 11:49:59 AM
The whole Republican strategy is to accuse Democrats of doing what they, themselves are actually doing. And sadly, this usually works because the Dems automatically go into defense mode instead of taking the fight to the Republicans. Bill Clinton's speech was refreshing because that's exactly what he did.

Fact-checking is essential, though as we've seen with Lyin' Ryan, it doesn't actually do any good. That asshole would lie about the color of his own hair, if he thought at least one person would go, "Why yes Paul, you have beautiful blonde hair."
