Jubeebee: Agreed, fark the Vikings. If the Bears can't win it, I'd much rather be looking up at GB than MIN in the division.

I think it's safe to say that by season's end, the Bears, Packers, and Lions will all be looking down at the Vikings in the standings.

Sure, that's probably true this season, but once every decade the Vikings make a run at the NFCCG where they predictably lose, and their fans are insufferable PURPLE PEOPLE EATER PURPLE JESUS PURPLE FREAK PURPLE TARKENTON loudmouths for a couple of years until they come crashing back to earth and threaten to move to LA.

So when all is right in the world and GB/CHI are on top, one of the things FIBs and cheeseheads bond over is pissing on the Vikings. This is one of those times.

Doesn't matter where the standings end up, Bears and Packers will always look down on the Vikings.

The Packers had a little bit of a head start. Since the Ravens entered the league you're up 2-1. :p

So to expound upon your thesis: "Scoreboard biatches". It would take the combined championships of the Ravens, the Colts, and the Browns to match the Packers.

May I also point out that the Ravens have never gone 10 consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance?

The Ravens also never drafted Tony Mandarich ahead of Barry Sanders. :p

You're right. We shouldn't count any championships in sports before your arbitrary deadline, please enlighten us as to what the appropriate year to begin counting these wins should be. EABOD

I didn't say anything about not counting "any sports championships before my arbitrary deadline". Hell, I never proposed any deadline. I only said that the two aren't equal.

League Championships count; absolutely. But they're not the same. Seems like I've stepped on your toes regarding Green Bay's 11 NFL Championship titles (but not nearly as bad as SF stomped your asses at home yesterday). But I digress... Those 11 NFL Championships aren't the same as the 4 AFL-NFL Championship/Super Bowl titles that Green Bay has won since '66. Prior to that, the NFL wouldn't even entertain the idea of playing aginst the best the AFL had to offer. A lot of competition, and damned good competition I might add, was completely ignored by the NFL before then. The two simply aren't the same is all I'm saying.

Now, I'd be gald to hear an argument from you as to how they are the same, provided you can put down your bag of dicks long enough to type it up.

I'd imagine his point, which is valid, would be that the Packers' championships won in the 1930s were won in what was essentially an entirely different game. Your point, which is equally valid, is that it's impossible to nail down a concrete year in which "that game" became "this game". Thus, the only sensible conclusion would be that past championships don't mean jack, and all that matters is who wins this year...which will obviously be the Ravens. :)

At any rate,

1. Please do not insult my bag of dicks, they are sensitive.
2. The competition argument really doesn't hold much water given segregation.
3. They were the best team during the era in which they played. This isn't baseball where you can have a decently legitimate shot at comparing number is on a normalized scale. The tactics and rules have been so fundamentally altered since even the 90's, that era by era comparisons border on meaningless.
4. I really have no beef with you or Harv, I am just pot-stirring in a long dead thread.
5. I would argue the SF dig, but scoreboard.

Ray Ray was playing up the hurt over losing Art a little too much. He looked like he was about to collapse during the anthem.

In the course of two plays, Tirico and Gruden called an end-around a "reverse" and an actual reverse a "double-reverse." Isn't knowing what words mean a prerequisite of using them for a living?
