Unfortunate image.  Currently the Yankees and the Sox have the AL East locked up between them.  We have them surrounded.

As much as I am mostly ambivalent to the NY Yankees, I hope they win the World Series this year so Ichiro can finally get his ring and retire.

That's what I want to know. Though, wearing a Yankees cap in New England is like wearing meat around your neck and petting a bear.

I laughed my ass off when Pedro tossed him. If you're a coach, you need to keep your ass on the bench during a fight.

That's mostly in the Tri-Guid area of "Cranston-Johnston-North Providence".
Usually it's one or both of two reasons. They believe the Red Sox are an "Irish" team and/or all Italian-Americans are New Yorkers at heart, even though the Sox have had many Italian players and fans throughout their history and RI is predominately Italian. But-but-but-but Dimaggio!

Authorities said Jeffrey Nason walked into the police's lobby and reported someone was yelling at him for wearing a New York Yankees hat.

[would really like to know what happened here]

Nason left the station, police said, picked up a brick, threw it through the station's front glass doors.

Only because boston is no where near a .500 winning percentage, season died in July and the fans are busy playing golf with Cub fans.... I can see why they'd be a lil pissy.

Amazing, you can't tell a girl to not dress like a slut if she doesn't want to attract unwanted attention, but you can tell a guy not to wear a hat if he doesn't want to be heckled.

The NY Yankees ? That's what you're upset about? The Yankees makes $427 million a year. How much does your father make? If your dad ever can't pay the rent and needs money, go ask the Yankees. See what happens. The Yankees don't care about you. Why care about them?

Which would be a retarded reasoning, as Dom played for the Sox and Vince played for the Boston Braves. But to hear the Crayyyynnstihn accent is to know exactly where they think they live, yes.

So in December of 1995 I was PCSing from Ft Wainwright, AK going back to Ft Campbell, KY for the third time. We'd just left Canada and were in Montana someplace, and I stopped for gas that wasn't $140.89 a liter and some munchies. I'm wearing my Red Sox cap.

I walk down the aisle to get sodas for myself and the brood and walking the other way is this land whale wearing a Yankees cap.

We stared daggers at each other until we passed. I believe he muttered a homophobic remark at me, but I let it pass.

HotIgneous Intruder: You must be a cop.

Let me elaborate on my statement:
I'm a Sox fan. My dad is a Yankees fan and grew up around here. I worked with a guy who grew up in NY and is a lifelong fan. Neither of them ever had any issues. I think it's because both of them are really easy-going people. Anytime I've seen someone comment about their allegiances their response was friendly instead of confrontational. My guess is things would be different if they got defensive or reacted in a hostile manner. I'm not suggesting it doesn't happen-- there are plenty of assholes on both sides. I just think it's the personality of the person wearing the hat rather than the hat itself.
