The police, however registered a petty case against an organiser of the event, in which the youngsters were participating, for not seeking prior police permission for the event.

In other words, somebody didn't grease an official palm enough. Sounds like a true police state, where the cops are both enforcing the laws and granting permission for activities.

Meanwhile at DragonCon. The officers throw their hands in the air and walk away. It seems some 40 year olds CAN look like teenage anime stereotypes when they put their drunken minds to it.

To be fair, the internet doesn't just exist in the US... We always assume stories are only US based, but stuff happens elsewhere, and there is really no rule saying that suby has to specify when it isn't in the US...

Sounds like Utah..

It's illegal to hold dance events in St George.

A combination movie theater/bar was cited for showing The Hangover 2 because it has full frontal and they serve alcohol. This is a 50% higher fine than allowing underage drinking.

The state troopers got kicked out of Evanston Wyoming for tracking people who would come up and buy beer and bring it back into Utah.

State liquor enforcement officers will do underhanded shiat like send 4 people into a bar, have them all sit down and order, send 2 to the bathroom, and then cite the bar for "over serving" when the waitress drops off the drinks for all 4 while the 2 are still gone.

Given the track record here, I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this happen in Utah. I'm really surprised that it wasn't...

Nice. A couple of points to make, though...

1. I wasn't responding to you. If you're that defensive that you have to jump in on something like this, may I suggest some Massengil for your sandy vagina?

2. My point still stands. Assuming that because they didn't list a location means that subby is somehow implying that it happened in the US is stupid. The world(and the internet) does not revolve around the US, period.

Also true when a cop embarrasses him/herself... I'd even go so far as to say that is the more likely scenario.

Depending on how interested the ACLU was, this could be a "right of assembly" issue, but the locals could cite fire laws and maximum capacity.

/and waiting for the "unless the assembly is political in nature, meeting in groups is a privilege and not a right" argument

When someone points out a certain behavior is douchebaggy, and your response is to do that behavior MORE, you just might be a douchebag.

I see that Contempt of Cop is a chargeable offense everywhere.  I find it odd that you need a permit to hold an event in a licensed pub. I can see the money grubbers wanting a permit fee for any use of public space or a private establishment not currently approved, "read" paying a fee...

India is indeed a land of mystery...

Hey, cops have to justify their existence somehow. If they can't find a criminal, they'll find an underage drinker. No underage drinkers? Then it's an illegal dance party. If the guy shows up with some kind of evidence that he didn't need a "dance license", the cops will throw it over to their local legislators (who likewise have to justify their reason for being) and they'll ex post facto in a law that shows the guy's waiver was itself illegal.

I mean, I support the local sheriffs as much as I can; but this kind of thing goes on in every country in the world.

I don't care who the bigger douchebag is. We're not running a douchebag contest. If one is kind of a douchebag and the other is more of a douchebag, they both suck monkey balls.

Try being nice to the people around you, for a change.
