14 team ppr league (TEs are receivers)
Ugh need to pick 2 of the 4

Gresham -- playing Ravens and a little dinged up
Stevie Johnson -- on the damn stationary bike thurs but says he'll play(against Revis)
Andre Roberts -- I drafted him for a breakout WR but *shudder* Skelton
Alfie Morris -- He looked good but you can never trust the rat with his RB rotation

I'm going with Gresham and Johnson now but waiting for the game-day actives to make sure Johnson is going to play. The rest of my team is pretty solid for a 14 team league considering I didnt have a 3rd and 6th rounder. We allow trading of draft picks and I made a Superbowl run last year(fail).

I think you have to go with Gresham and Johnson, at least for Week 1. The other two need to show what they can can do (or what they will be allowed to do).

A question for you (and everyone else)

Mike Wallace or Darrius Heyward-Bey?

2012-09-09 09:23:37 AM
And in my other league - Hillis or Ben Tate?

2012-09-09 09:32:24 AM
I'd go with Wallace. Palmer has looked pretty bad this year and I'm wondering if his arm may be done. I also think they're going to use McFadden(and tai jones) for lots of dumpoffs if the zone holds for the first 2 reads(raiderfan so may be overthinking). While Wallace had that big holdout and will have limited targets, the dude is fast and can hit a home run on every play-- especially with rapey wandering around, extending plays until someone gets behind the safeties.

2012-09-09 09:38:45 AM
FWIW-- my fantasy sources all rank Heyward-Bey ahead of Wallace by about 5 spots so YMMV

also -- Tate. The dolphins suck and that will be a blowout. Even if Foster plays they arent going to run him much.

Mike Wallace. You know Ben is going for at least 3 home run balls today and what would make Wallace's return all the more sweet for Pitt fans?

I need advisce on my flex - Beanie Wells, Ced Benson or Danny Amandola? Right now I'm going with Amandola (0.5 PPR league).

I would probably go w/Benson. I don't trust anyone not named Fitzgerald on the Cardinals and I am not ready to put much faith in anyone other than Jackson on the Rams. W/the Packers offense there are always running lanes and if I recall correctly he has looked good this pre-season.

True, but the Packers are playing the Niners, who are easily the best run defense in the NFL, and the Rams are playing the Lions, who don't have a great D.

Okay, I know this may sound crazy, but hear me out.

I can either play Aaron Rodgers (vs SF D) or Jay Cutler (vs Indy's D).

The SF Def is one of the best in the league. They are returning most of their starters and don't give up a lot of points.

The Indy Def is one of the worst in the league. And they are starting a rookie QB on offense, so it could mean a lot of short field oppotunities that can result in points for Cutler.

Please tell me I'm not just being a homer because I'm thinking like this.

Any real news on Colston? All I can find is "light practice" and "questionable." It's either him or Tamme (TE DEN)

You're being a homer. Sorry. Indy acually wont be that bad, IMO.

You're being a homer for thinking like that. The Bears are going to run all over the colts.

Jonathan Stewart out, and it's raining like hell in Tampa.

DeAngelo Williams might be a good play today.

I heard his mother is a mudder.

I'm starting Gore over Lynch because I'm expecting San Fran to want to slow the game down, and I'm starting Jacksonville's D over San Fran because I don't think they'll be able to slow it down enough.

And yes, in a ten team league I had to choose between starting D. Murray, Lynch, and Gore!

CBSsports has him top 5 this week. Doug Martin is a good play too unless he gets rookie fumbleitis from the rain.

Wallace. I had H-B last year and he was so incredibly inconsistent with production that I wouldn't trust him.

Play Rogers. Unless he's hurt, you're better off playing Rogers over Cutler any day.

INeedAName: I'm starting Gore over Lynch...

Hmm...Lynch's back is ok(will start) and he is playing the cardinals.

16 team non-ppr league WR/TE flex spot decision

Brent Celek (sharing the love vs. Cleveland?)
Bralyon Edwards (since Golden Tate is out)
Mike Williams (is Tampa any good?)

2012-09-09 10:26:21 AM
WR: Brandon Lloyd, Eric Decker, Reggie Wayne, Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson. I need two.

Right now, it's Lloyd/Decker... but any of these five could have pretty good games...

Any strong feelings one way or another?

Raining like a biatch in tampa. Edwards is unreliable. I'd go with Celek. Also- my 14team league was 16 for years. Love the 16 team format. How many roster spots do you guys use? 8?

I'd start Cutler in that situation over anyone BUT Rogers.

SF had a great rush D and GB barely bothers with the run. Rogers will put up good numbers and the game will likely be close so Rogers will be throwing until the end.

Cutler should have a good day too. Luck will likely throw at least one INT, giving the Bears short field but Forte could vulture points from Cutler and it seems likely Cutler won't be throwing much in the 4th if the Bears have it wrapped up by that point.

The only other one I'd consider is Wayne. Luck is leaning on him hard when he needs a completion. Out of curiosity-- why did you take both Maclin and Jackson? I HATE having that decision every week, unless it's a Nelson/Jennings situation where you just play both.

2012-09-09 10:31:22 AM
I'm starting antonio brown and garcon, but am not sure between lance moore and danny amendola for my 3rd,its a ppr league. Pretty set with brady as qb, and glad to hear lynch is playing.

Yeah I'd second this. Forte's gonna be big in that game, and if Luck can't do anything against a good Bears D then Cutler won't be asked to do a whole lot. He should still have a decent day but no way you start him over Rodgers. Plus, I think the Packers want to make a statement after going one-and-done in the playoffs last year.

Definitely Llyod. Out of the rest I'd probably go with Jackson against Cleveland without their only good CB.

Good luck all. I'm off to watch oldest boy's fall baseball league. If you like having these fantasy discussion threads every week, keep them busy. We've had them in year's past with mixed results. I like having this separate from the game discussion threads leading up to 1 O'Clock, but the interest has to be there to keep them as a weekly feature.

Pick up Mark Ingram on waivers if he's available. He's going to get a lot of touches once Sproles gets injured.

This has me concerned, too. All I keep finding is the same thing - he did light practices and has played through injuries in the past. They don't seem to be making a very big deal about it, though, so that's at least a bit encouraging.

9 spots, QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1 TE, 1 flex, 1 D, 1 K. This is my second year playing it and I love it too. Many more sleepers on each team than normal. Thanks for the advice.

My last minute decision: Start Trent Richardson or Ronnie Brown. Richardson is obviously more talented and he is supposed to start. However, the Browns don't want to overwork him because he's coming off of surgery. The plan on spelling him often and they Richardson is not going to be the 3rd down back this week. Ronnie Brown isn't someone to get excited about, but with Ryan Mathews out, he's going to be on the field almost every play... And he's playing the Raiders, which is a good matchup.

My gut says I have to go with Richardson and I'm just overthinking everything... But I have a bad feeling I am going to be very upset after this week is over.

So much attention given to a 6-10 team (at best).

Back doing fantasy after a few years off, and I have a coupla questions to anyone who would deign to help me out:

Which two would you start at RB and flex: Reggie Bush, Nate Washington, or Ben Tate?

Also, and this is likely a tougher one, anyone know of any reliable places to watch the games online? Way back when stoogetv was the hot spot, but now I have no idea. If you don't wanna share over a public post, please email. Thanks.

2012-09-09 11:03:58 AM
A) Madden Curse, don't believe your team is beyond it
B) After rewatching preseason highlights, I'm worried about my Broncos WR
C) Foles is going to be your backup QB at some point just in case he catches first
D) Issac Redman will most likely suck again
E) Doug Martin for the win? (rookie RBs tend to have good years and really, do you think the Browns will do well)?

2012-09-09 11:04:06 AM
TE spot - Aaron Hernandez or Fred Davis?

My gut says Fred Davis,

I was wondering about Doug Martin over DeAngelo Williams as well.

Doug Martin and Aaron Hernandez (AH is in a better matchup, NE will want to come out pissed off from losing last year)....and you never pick a Redskin player

I'm a big fan of Fred Davis this year. Rookie QB, no Cooley. Signs point to a big year for Davis. For this week, I think it comes down to risk. Do you want the bigger upside? If so, go with Hernandez. If he is Brady's hot target, he's in for a huge day. (100+ yards and 2 TDs is never out of the question, but he might not get a catch at all in that offense.) However, I think Davis will be much more consistent. Expect 50 or 60 yards and maybe a TD.

2012-09-09 11:15:53 AM
Also WRs Jennings, Harvin, A. Brown, and E. Decker. Picking 2.

2012-09-09 11:16:50 AM
Analysis of Bills/Jets game is just terrible. Dareus played inside as NT almost all last season so I'm not sure how he can possibly be "moved inside", and no mention of pro-bowler Kyle Williams being back, despite him looking virtually unblockable in the preseason. Anyone who thinks Buffalo will get pushed around in the run game like last season is kidding themselves.

Landry and Bell are terrible in coverage, and aren't an upgrade on anyone. Also, The Jets don't actually have a FS on their roster, maybe that's worth mentioning?
