So go out and stock up on beer and chips. Put the cooler right on the living room floor and put your feet up. Make sure you hit pause so you can take nice long leaks while staying hydrated with lots of cold beer. Don't forget to feed the dog first. You don't want to have to kick her when she comes around to remind you. Does the wife have enough sandwich fixings?

I am curious about something.

When TNA started up, they wanted to be the anti-WWF/E. They wanted to be the exact opposite of them. They wanted to give southern style wrestling a platform on a national level that has not been seen for a couple of years (WCW left southern style wrestling years before they got bought out). How did they do? Well, they copy everything that the WWE does, and still has the nerve to call themselves the anti-WWE folk (well, in TV-PG era, they do have an ounce of truth in there).

So basically my question is is there any real southern style wrestling promotions out there? It doesn't even have to be pure southern style. Hell, I would settle for a promotion that was pre-1997 WWF storyline wise. At least it had some resemblance of a sport then.

I like wrassling way better than football ANY day (I live in Seattle and root for the Sounders instead - what would you do?). So I will be tuning in in T-minus 94 minutes!

Do you mean a pure babyface vs despicable heel, kayfabe, and longer feuds type promotion? I always recommend Ring of Honor, altho I think they might have taken a step back since Sinclair took over. They have an extensive dvd library. I also am involved with FSW-NV and when I can get down to Phoenix, we run FSW-AZ. We have a youtube channel if you would like to check it out. I also like when I can catch it NWA-Hollywood.

I wouldn't go that far to have a Hoganesque hero and an Iron-Shiekish heel. The Attitude era had some great wrestlers with the shades of gray. But yeah, kayfabe is a must. I want to lose myself into the show, not be reminded every farking second of the show that what I am watching isn't real.

Stop with the cameras being in the same room when two people have a personal conversation. If there is a brawl in the back, at least pretend it was going on BEFORE the camera got there to make it more realistic.

I dunno, I was a WCW fan (in my defense, this was before the Russo era, so I did have some loyalty till the end), so my views on pro-wrestling may be different than others

As someone who didn't watch TV for 8 years and completely missed the Attitude Era, I have to say I am glad most of it is available on Youtube and through through THE good places that give you FIRST access to the best boxROW seats so you can stream WWE?F TV online for free. I have been catching up on Goldberg's career (which I missed, along with the Rock, the early DX years, Stone Cold as a bald bad-ass instead of a long-haired goof, and Brock Lesnar), and he was damn fun to watch! Bring back someone like that and have him have to face a slew of really good wrestlers like the younger NWO and the other folks mentioned?

Today's wrestling at all levels pales horribly by comparison.

My money is on Bully Ray going all the way tonight.
Joe already has the Magnus feud building up. Cowboy needs revenge upon Bobby Rooo. And Jeff Hardy is so over that he doesn't need a title.
Bully has been the best heel in wrestling this year, has improved in the ring, on the mic, and even gotten himself into better shape than he's ever been in. He took one of the silliest storylines, a feud with a wrestler's lawyer brother, and made it gold. He's been a main player in the Aces and Eights storyline. Plus, he just re-upped with the company for 2 years.

I think tonight is going to be his time to truly shine.

Y'know, TNA always schedules their PPVs on stupid nights.

This year, they schedule one on NFL Kickoff night.

Last year, they scheduled one on NBA Finals night.

I think it's great you're all forced to have these tiny discussion threads now instead of your all day nonsense threads, now scripted wrestling is almost getting equal treatment in the sports tab.

I see Joe taking this win, since Jeff beat him on thursday.

Actually, the threads usually go green about an hour before showtime. sometimes they go green early by accident, but get pulled.

Also, TNA is always a low draw because, well, would an Arena football game have a big draw?

No FirstNationalBastard, the last 2 weekends before this when you people were having multiple all day threads, I clicked the "Report a problem/Notify admin" button and constructed some messages to some of the differents mods on this site. The threads locked up and disappeared until the night time. Another time a thread mysteriously locked up all day after I said something even when I didnt report them, probably about 3 weeks ago.

Appears the derpfests are cut short, sorry guys. Your soap opera nonsense is relegated to the rest of the mere sports on the sports tab now.

so, what, do you do that for every thread that last multiple days?

I could care less about your heaping helpings of derp. Your threads were getting an inordinate amount of attention, tons of all day wrestling threads, no matter what FNB might have hallucinated. You guys got way more love in the sports tab than actual sports, but it's over now.

Also, I still fail to see how scripted soap opera melodrama is even qualified to be considered alongside real sports.

"But the roidfreaks really hurt each other, and they call it sports entertainment!"

Yeah, not a sport.

thank you. Every page view adds to Drew's profits, which keeps our threads going.

Speaking as one of the founders of the fWc, I appreciate your help at keeping these threads going.

Threads are generally submitted very early for everything on the sports tab, so they wind up getting greened with the submissions around them. They usually get pulled back without anyone reporting them.

Sooooooo people posting in threads is bad?

2012-09-09 08:24:28 PM
All day wrestling threads, as in shows that don't even start until the evening on the East Coast, yet having discussion threads running in the morning even on the West Coast. Greened waaay earlier than real sport discussion threads do, and you get 2 of them even at times. I dont think it will be happening anymore, sorry people.

Enjoy, gentlemen.

I still cannot believe how happy I am with the way TNA has been booked as of late. Hell, the match we just saw had a year of history involved, and the Storm/Rooooo match has just as much!
