Oh, hi.

Haha! You think the Jets are going to score more than 1 TD. How precious!

Here's a fun stat line from the Bills/Broncos game last year:

Tebow 13/30 185 1 4

That 1? That's touchdowns. The 4 is INTs.

Should be a fun game.

Okay, boys and girls...it's time for the return of everyone's (by which I mean, my) favorite Sunday morning Fark tradition, Harv72b's Weekly NFL Picks!. After going, well, I don't know last season because my motherboard got fried last week & I just bought a new PC rather than repairing that one, I've done all the down & dirty homework necessary to elevate my prognosticating to entirely new highs this year. By which I mean, I've pretty much ignored the preseason and plan to overcome that via a brief study session on the internets immediately before I pick each game. Hey, if ain't broke don't fix it. As always, winners in bold, commentary in italics.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
If I can be honest (and I can, since I'm not running for office anywhere), there's no way I would've picked Dallas over the defending Super Bowl Champs. There's even less way I pick them to do it behind the stellar efforts of Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray, and Kevin Ogletree. But, through the magic of not having typed anything on the record prior to or during that game I can blissfully claim a draw and go into today's match-ups with a flawless 0-0 record. Go me.

Indianapolis Colts at Chicago Bears
Welcome to the NFL, Mr. Luck. I've never quoted another article in one of these before, but this line from NFL.com's game preview just seemed perfect: "Indianapolis' offensive cohesiveness will be evident early, unless there isn't any." All due respect to Luck's preseason efforts, he hasn't faced a true NFL defense doing true NFL defense things yet, and while perhaps not as fearsome as in years past, Da Bears still bring a strong D to da gridiron. Besides which, I don't see a Colts defense which ranked 29th last year against the run being able to stop Matt Forte with any consistency.

Philadelphia Eagles at Cleveland Browns
While Browns fans will likely be highly motivated after the death of Art Modell (and I don't mean that in a good way, understandably), most of Cleveland's roster was in grade school when Modell moved the team to Baltimore. Besides which, most of Cleveland's roster is just not very good. While I'm not jumping on the Eagles bandwagon in this or any season, it's tough to pick against them in this game.

St. Louis Rams at Detroit Lions
The Rams' most recent rebuilding effort is now entering its third season, which means they're exactly 4 months away from blowing it up & starting all over again. And while Sam Bradford may indeed have the talent and smarts to succeed in the NFL, unless/until St. Louis brings in some talent around him he's going to continue to get shell-shocked week after week. The good news is that the Rams can't get much worse in the sacks allowed category, coming off a 32nd-ranked 2011 season.

Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans
The Texans bring one of the game's best running backs, a healthy All Pro-caliber quarterback, and a tough (though depleted) defense to the table in this one. Miami brings...Reggie Bush. This could will get ugly quickly for the Dolphins.

Atlanta Falcons at Kansas City Chiefs
This is a gut call. On paper the Falcons are the better team, but the Chiefs have become something of a darling as a sleeper pick this offseason, and playing in front of the home crowd I just feel like they pull this one out, quite possibly in dramatic fashion, and most certainly through winning the turnover battle.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Minnesota Vikings
The real losers in this one will be whoever actually pays to watch it. Adrian Peterson will see limited touches, if any, after his knee injury last season, and Maurice Jones-Drew may or may not be in sync with the offense after not participating in the preseason. That leaves us with a showdown of Christian Ponder vs. Blain Gabbert and...sorry, caught a laughing fit just then. Seriously, though, Jacksonville's defense might combine with Minnesota's "defense" to keep this one close, but I can't see the Jags avoiding 0-1.

Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints
In one corner we have a 2011 playoff team with a huge chip on its shoulders looking to prove something to the league. In the other corner, we have the Washington Redskins. Robert Griffin III's success in this game will be measured in whether or not he survives it. In addition to an obvious "us against the world" mentality on the Saints' sideline, acting coach Aaron Kromer has to realize this is an unbelievable opportunity to make a name for himself in the league and potentially lock down a coordinator or even head coaching position for next year.

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
The Bills got off to a great start last season, and with the sour taste of their ensuing collapse still in their mouths they should be highly motivated in this division contest. The Jets, meanwhile, went through yet another offseason filled with off-the-field issues, culminating in the acquisition of He Who Shall Not Be Named...oh, and they also managed to put up a less-than-impressive 7.8 points/game during the preseason, with a whopping one touchdown.

New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans
Death, taxes, and the Patriots fielding a Super Bowl contender. Even with the alleged contract fallout with Wes Welker (and by "alleged" I mean much reported on, and by "reported" I mean speculated), there's simply no way the Pats don't take care of business in Tennessee.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
These are both teams which look to take big steps forward this season, but at least on paper it looks like Seattle has taken the bigger step thus far. While the Seahawks made the gutsy call to start an impressive rookie over their highly touted free agent acquisition at quarterback, the Cardinals eventually flipped a coin and went with John Skelton. Patrick Peterson and Larry Fitzgerald can't do it by themselves.

San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers
A lot of sports writers are already counting the 49ers out as a one-season fluke, and the Packers being the class of the NFC each season has pretty much become a given. The difference in my view of San Fran vs. theirs is that they seem to be focusing exclusively on the players, while I'm locked in on Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff. Nobody did more with less last season than Harbaugh the Younger, and I see no reason to presume that he won't be able to continue that trend in game-planning a matchup that we all wanted (expected) to see in the NFC Championship game and now finally get. An upset to be sure, but not as big an upset as some may think.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I'm told they still have a professional football-playing club in Tampa Bay. This game may just disprove that claim.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos
Okay, so take this one with a grain of salt as I am a Ravens fan, but with a Peyton Manning at least cancelling out the effect of a healthy Ben Roethlisberger in this 2011 Wild Card rematch I just don't see a reason to anticipate a different result. In Pittsburgh I think I go with the Steelers, but with a rejuvenated sellout crowd in Mile High and with the altitude-related absence of Ryan Clark, the edge goes to the Broncos in my admittedly purple-skewed eyes.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens
After all that, did you think I'd pick the Bengals? After successfully getting Eli Manning to elevate his play to elite status last season (at least that's how they tell it), the football media seem to have jumped on the Joe Flacco bandwagon this year...and with an offensive line that at best might be as (not) good as last season and a defense depleted by injuries and free agency, Baltimore's 2012 campaign is indeed shaping up to be entirely dependent on Flacco's play. In their favor, the Ravens are coming off a season in which they posted perfect records both in home games and against division foes. Oh, and for the first time since '97, they'll also have a crowd that won't have to shake the dust off to root for their home team during meaningful September games.

San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders
Please understand that I am not picking Riversface to win this one, I am picking Carson Palmer to lose it (and quite possibly to out duel the various rookies for the Week 1 Delhomme Award). If the Raiders can get out to an early lead and keep the ball on the ground they have a shot, but I don't think the Raiders can get out to an early lead and keep the ball on the ground.

How much do I hate Michael Vick? The Eagles who I've loved/followed my whole life are in town today. I enjoy supporting the Browns for the AFC (for lulz since they stink). Tickets were just on sale for 5 bucks (15 with fees in upper; 25 with fees 16 rows back) and I didn't buy them. In the McNabb era, I would have shelled out 150 percent normal value.

Dammit Reid, just let Vick get hurt so I can cheer for anyone else. This sucks just watching on TV. Oh and I don't just hate him for the dog thing, he did his time for that. He's a horrible douche who really hasn't learned anything if you hear him in interviews; He's talents of a thrower if you go back to the ATL passing stats some years are Tebowesque.

I do like Andy though even if he does have the fately flaw of clock management/challenges

Oh and if they wouldn't have cancelled the Art Modell thing, I definitely wouldn't have gone. Something that has a chance to turn out to be epically sad/hilarious is not to be missed. I'm not someone for doing something horrible like that, but watching it live does hit on my interests.

The first 2-3 weeks, nothing is known, there's nothing but rampant speculation at every turn. that said, here's what i think:

At Chicago -9.5 Indianapolis 43.5
Tempting number but I think Chicago has enough weapons and Indy's defense still a huge liability. I'd say Chicago outright.

Philadelphia -9.5 At Cleveland 43
again, a huge number. i wonder if Cleveland plays with any kind of extra motivation - even though the memorial was canceled per the family's request. I'll say Cleveland covers somehow.

and what's the over/under on Vick starts this season? having watched a ton of Nic Foles in college, I think he's got all the tools so if (when) Vick goes down, I think they'll be ok. I think FOles was an absolute HEIST at what, the 3rd round? (and ina bit of UofA trivia, when Foles throws his first NFL pass, he will become the first WIldcat in I think 35 years to do so in the NFL. There were several QBs drafted but none ever panned out.

At NY Jets -3 Buffalo 39

Buffalo has started quick the last few years as I recall then their season turns to shiat. I'll say they get a road win. and god i can't wait for the Tebowgasm.

At New Orleans -8 Washington 50.5
Big number.....I think Wash covers. who knows.

New England -5.5 At Tennessee 48
see, this is what i don't get. NE, all they did was play in the Super Bowl, Tennessee was dreadful last year (ok, oversttement) but....5.5? don't understand. NE outright.

At Minnesota -3.5 Jacksonville 37.5
who is Minne's QB? I'll say Jax outirght.

At Houston -13 Miami 41.5
wow. a quick trip thru google could settle this, but....Houston was pretty good at home last year and wasn't Miami winless OTR? or were they the team that was winless at home? that has t obe the explanation. That's a mighty big number, i say too early for week 1, and I'll say Miami covers. 13 is just too much for week 1. if you say 13 witn a 7-2 team versus 3-6, yeah, but......not in week 1.

(which of course means the final score will be Houston 44 Miami 6.)

9/9 1:00 ET At Detroit -9 St. Louis 46
Bradford sucked last year. he needs a rebound year. Suh will be fun to watch this year. Hell, D-Town in general...the Rams are quietly getting a decent defense together with contract extensions. I'll say an angry, chip on their shoulder Detroit houses it.

Atlanta -2.5 At Kansas City 42.5
I don't know anything about KC other than they fired that Haley dude who jumped to Pittsburgh as the OC it hink. ehh. I'll say KC outright because i'm tired of reading the last few years about how Atlanta will make the jump to the next level. Matt....fark....Ryan? whatever his name is, he had that solid rookie season but since then he hasn't seemed to improve, despite getting a lot of chatter. not sold on him or the team.

At Green Bay -5 San Francisco 46.5

I liked Harbaugh channeling the Rolling Stones on the birth of his son about a week ago: "Wild horses could not drag me away from this game." I'll say San Fran goes Operation Codename: Can't Win With Him, Can't Lose With Him, CAN'T DO IT" and wins outright.

Carolina -2.5 At Tampa Bay 46
bleh. someone has to win. I'll say TB by a TD.

Seattle -2.5 At Arizona 41
Arizona outright. Seattle is gettign a lot of attention obviously for that Wilson kid but he hasn't seen live NFL defense, and Arizona's quietly was the strength down the stretch.

the fun part here is the under. I can't see this going over. with the limitations/challenges each offense has, this just looks like a 20-13 type game.

At Denver -2 Pittsburgh 46
wow. aging QB hobbled by injuries leads proud AFC franchise against...uhhh.....aging QB hobbled by injuries.....I'll say Denver just because. who is Pitts' backup QB?

Monday Night Football Line

At Baltimore -7 Cincinnati 41.5
Balt outright.

At Oakland -1.5 San Diego 46.5
oakland favored? huh? i know they;re home and all but....no.
