"Every time I've received a call from one of these guys, I play along. I act as stupid as a republican dishwasher and string theeguys along for as long as ten or 15 minutes (personal best 20 minutes, 35 seconds!) As soon as you tell them you found the place where they want you to make the change to your settings, I tell them I have to answer the other phone. Not wanting to let a sucker off the hook, they will often stay on the line for 5 or ten minutes before they realized they are being played. Wastes their time and more importantly, their money!"

I dunno. If somebody called me and said "your Windows machine is a viral piece of sh*t", I'd assume they were 100% legit until they said "we can fix it".

Seems they have a company that will "fix" your "broken" machine. Scam, through and through.

"Microsoft computer is designed in such a way that if anything goes wrong it sends an electronic message," Walter said. "That is why it gets reported and that is why we are calling you."

Yeah guy...but not to you. Just going from that it seems like fraud, plain and simple. Surprised they admitted complicity.
