Firethorn: StoPPeRmobile: Why don't we just cover them with plants?

You know, I was reading an article about that a while back? They actually mentioned encouraging creepers and such to grow - the plants would absorb the sunlight(keeping your building cool), provide a touch more insulation/moderation, help control moisture, etc... It seems that it was a common tactic back before air conditioners were available/common.

In my town the tourist information building has sod on the roof. Not sure how good of a tactic that is though.



There are several companies that now do exactly that here's one
It turns out the roofs are cost effective as the plants/soil act as an insulator.

Probably better to use a color that mimics what the local ground cover would be like.
