Great job, Mittster.

You'd think someone who's had as much experience campaigning as this chucklehead would be a little better at it by now

Obama's campaign commercials don't write themselves, Mitt Romney does.

BAIER: To hear several speakers in Charlotte ... they were essentially saying that you don't care about the U.S. military because you didn't mention U.S. troops and the war in Afghanistan in your nomination acceptance speech. ... Do you regret opening up this line of attack, now a recurring attack, by leaving out that issue in the speech.

ROMNEY: I only regret you're repeating it day in and day out. When you give a speech you don't go through a laundry list, you talk about the things that you think are important and I described in my speech, my commitment to a strong military unlike the president's decision to cut our military. And I didn't use the word troops, I used the word military. I think they refer to the same thing.

god, is the interviewer's tongue far enough up mitt's asshole there? "we understand that you were at the american legion and that you're awesome and have a ten-inch cock, but do you regret that balrog HUSSEIN fartbingo was able to use his kenyan wiles to trick you into this line of attack?"

He also thinks the words "troops" and "military" refer to the same thing. Because the best way to "Support Our Troops™" is to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on tanks and fighter jets the troops neither need nor want.

To Romney, troops are the equivalent of a tank, rifle, helicopter, helmet... they're all just pieces of equipment to be used and consumed in battle. As a whole, he appreciates them, but as individual pieces they're all just interchangeable parts.

Mitt Romney's dick has more footprints on it than the Queensboro Bridge on New York Marathon day.

I wish I had a penny for every bottle of Mylanta chugged in the campaign's press office.

Like everything else, Romney sees all the different pieces of the military as dollars and cents. Everything must have a monetary value, and must be judged accordingly. And of course, anything with a negative value must be done away with.

The convention ended yesterday so the question as it relates to the DNC convention strategy is precisely 1 day old. He doesn't know what day-in-day out is. Wait until he's President - but whom I'm kidding.

Don't forget the political value, like sitting down to talk with Veterans... unless they're gay, then that's just wrong.

So Mitt's response to the bump Obama's getting from the convention is to... shoot himself in the foot?

Why discuss the "help"?

2012-09-07 04:14:22 PM
Reminds me of an episode of The West Wing, where everyone kept asking about Bartlett's MS diagnosis. In the ongoing conflict in Haiti, a rescue mission is staged to save American citizens. Bartlet decides to send in peacekeeping troops, in spite of political consequences. His spokesperson CJ then, when announcing the decision to the press, makes a grave mistake by saying that she thinks "the president's relieved to be focusing on something that matters", implying both that the MS incident was unimportant and that the President was happy to use an incident in which American lives are at risk to deflect attention away from his illness.

The press ate that shiat up. "He's RELIEVED?"

2012-09-07 04:25:13 PM
He meant that he didn't consider the troops unimportant to him personally just that they were unimportant in terms of the economy, election and the future of America. Certainly they are a line object on the military spreadsheet and that means they would be protected also (in theory). There are defense contractors and other large companies on this spreadsheet also and to they extent that their profit margins will be protected, so will the troops to a degree as long as there is no obvious conflicts.

Christ Almighty, Mitt Romney is the most clueless, unaware, bumbling, ignorant, shiathead we've seen run for high public office since.....well, 2008.

How do you screw up a robot's programming so bad that its demeanor screams "punch me!" like that?

2012-09-07 04:44:30 PM
So say in your speech you think we should be more engaged in wars throughout the world, but neglect to mention the men and women who are and will be fighting them?

2012-09-07 04:47:22 PM
Mitt Romney believes what makes our military great is a big budget for defense contractors, not the bravery and steadfastness of the troops.

That's clearly what he's saying, and Obama should put that line on repeat from now until November.

I would argue he views them as a line item on a spreadsheet.

so, the troops aren't important?

2012-09-07 05:00:44 PM
HST's Dead Carcass: As a whole, he appreciates them, but as individual pieces they're all just interchangeable parts.

To be fair, he's from a world (we'll set aside how much of a role he personally played in it) where thinking that way about the companies they own and those companies' employees makes investors billions of dollars. I am quite certain he couldn't grok why anyone would think there's something wrong with that.

Even when he clarifies his statement he disregards the human sacrifice these men and women give for our country.

A strong military. Not brave troops, not men and women, not families..military in the most general sense.

The troops are just a cog in the War Machine.

Disgusting. And I didn't even serve in the military. And from a Republican candidate. Can you imagine if Obama did this?

Of course not, because Obama is not a callous sociopath.

Can't wait for the spin machine.

To be fair I don't think GW ever really intended to be President. It was just another one of his dumb luck, useful idiot with an important dad, falling in shiat smelling like a rose things.

Mitt's entire being has been running for President and he couldn't even be bothered to not cheat on his taxes for a few years so he could release them.

Lol. God you are a hilarious inci inconsistent partisan. Not even 3 hours ago you were talking about "you didn't build that" bbeing an out of context lie. What a joke.

Did Obama visit the actual troops like Romney did? Or did he just take all the credit for obl?

I think your take on this is accurate, because it seems completely consistent with Romney's view of the people who worked at the companies Bain closed.

Great save, Mitt!

If by "save" you mean "save the White House for the current and next president."

Let Detroit go bankrupt.
Corporations are people.
You people have seen enough of my taxes.
Our troops are not important.

Yep. Now that the conventions are done the real campaign season begins: Who can talk for two months straight and keep their foot out of their mouth the least? I'm shocked Mr. "I'm running a campaign here!" stumbled early.
