FTFA: King has a long history of inflammatory rhetoric about both immigrants and dogs.

I imagine that's not a sentence you see every day, even when it comes to Congressmen.

In any case, now that King's been redistricted, he's a lot more vulnerable. And Vilsack is a real challenger.

I was about to post exactly this, almost verbatim.

"Donor civilizations." Two words that say so much: American Exceptionalism, distilled down to its purest essence, crystallized and heated over a flame on a silver spoon, and injected directly in the brainstems of xenophobes who think they're "open-minded" because they begrudgingly accept any immigrants at all.

Sickening.

With a goon like Steve King, the best course of action is "DO NOT FEED THE TROLL". He is obviously gaming the system (he never authors any legislation of his own, and he's just milking Uncle Sucker for every penny it's got, and even when voted out, he will ride on a pension for the rest of his life).

He says these things simply because it gets his name mentioned in the media. Unless he's caught with a live boy or a dead girl, he knows there's nothing he can say that's too outrageous.

I really do hope Mrs. Vilsack wins this November. God know I'm certainly gonna vote for her.

"You get the pick of the litter and you got yourself a pretty good bird dog. Well, we've got the pick of every donor civilization on the planet,"

I saw the headline and was pretty geared up to rant about how farked up it is to pretend comparing a group of people to dogs is farked up.

I had a whole thing read to go about calling him a pig, and a rat, etc then saying who could get mad about that after talking up some of their good points.

But there is nothing really offensive in that comment wrt animal references. Be mad about the "donor civilizations" (yes, american exceptionalism, like we are an all new civilization). Be mad about getting the "pick" vs "Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free".

But getting butt hurt over "pick of the litter" because it compares you to being a dog is really just butt hurt.

I'll also add that archery hunters are very competitive when it comes to big bucks. I'm more inclined to help the Hmong with info on deer movement as, as immigrants, they don't have the relatives (rural), who are tuned in and can help them.

Unless you are a millionaire the economy will be worse for you if the Republicans win.

why would I give a shiat how republicans do with minorities?
my goal is to see the the united states institute rational public policy that raises wages of the middle and lower class instead of concentrating ever more wealth in the hands of the few capital owners.

this can best be done, in part, by decreasing the supply of labor and instituting capital controls.

the chances of my goals someday being realized can only increase just by educating ignorant folks like yourself about the fact that supply and demand is just as potent in our labor markets as it is in the commodity markets.

the policies you vocally support are a very big reason why americans are suffering on welfare, on unemployment, and in jails. while I can never reach you as you obviously think this is a team sport you are cheering for and a binary decision in life, I assume the more intelligent among your political brethren are capable of forming independent thoughts and can come to the obvious conclusions about what needs to be done to benefit the most Americans even if it conflicts with your parties priorities at the moment.

I couldn't care less if another black person ever votes republican again. I likely won't ever do it again myself. and moreover I couldn't give a shiat less what partisan assholes like you think when finally being told the truth.

Many countries in fact have that "merit system" for immigration for certain situations. There's still craploads of refugees and illegal immigrants that are as unskilled as one can get, but from developing countries (and especially developed) you need to prove your value.

You need to get up with the current events.

"Difficult as it was to hear," Johnson said, "slavery has benefited descendants like me. I believe there is a superior athletic gene in us."

And here's Chris Rock saying the essentially the same thing.

And they're wrong.

African American women have the highest rates of being overweight or obese compared to other groups in the U.S. About four out of five African American women are overweight or obese.

Link

Sure, there are a lot of non-obese African-American athletes who pursued sports careers, but part of that comes from the fact that getting involved in professional sports used to be one of the only ways that black people could gain respect. For example:

John Arthur ("Jack") Johnson (March 31, 1878 - June 10, 1946), nicknamed the "Galveston Giant," was an American boxer. At the height of the Jim Crow era, Johnson became the first African American world heavyweight boxing champion (1908-1915). In a documentary about his life, Ken Burns notes, "for more than thirteen years, Jack Johnson was the most famous and the most notorious African-American on Earth."

When the legislation that passed in the farm bill that says that it's a federal crime to watch animals fight or to induce someone else to watch an animal fight but it's not a federal crime to induce somebody to watch people fighting, there's something wrong with the priorities of people that think like that.

-Steve King (R-Iowa)

What I've said is that we need to respect humans more than we do animals. Whenever we start elevating animals up to, to above that of humans, we've crossed a moral line. For example, if there's a sexual predator out there who has impregnated a young girl, say a 13 year old girl, and it happens in America more times than you and I like to think, that sexual predator can pick that girl off the playground at the middle school and haul her across the state line and force her to get an abortion to eradicate the evidence of his crime, and bring her back and drop her off at the swing set, and that's not against the law in the United States of America. I have told Wayne Pacelle and the people who believe we should focus all of our efforts on the, on anything they can bring that limits activity around animals, that we need to respect and revere human life first, animal life second.

ABSTRACT
The employment rate of black men, and particularly of low-skill black men, fell
precipitously from 1960 to 2000. At the same time, the incarceration rate of black men rose
markedly. This paper examines the relation between immigration and these trends in black
employment and incarceration. Using data drawn from the 1960-2000 U.S. Censuses, we find a
strong correlation between immigration, black wages, black employment rates, and black
incarceration rates. As immigrants disproportionately increased the supply of workers in a
particular skill group, the wage of black workers in that group fell, the employment rate declined,
and the incarceration rate rose. Our analysis suggests that a 10-percent immigrant-induced
increase in the supply of a particular skill group reduced the black wage by 3.6 percent, lowered
the employment rate of black men by 2.4 percentage points, and increased the incarceration rate
of blacks by almost a full percentage point.

So, you're an uneducated low-skills black man? I didn't know that about you.

All this shows--if it shows anything--is that the so-called "job creators" would rather hire immigrants than BLACK MEN. What does that say about the people HIRING THEM??

While I don't think that he was intending to do anything but be his normal, semi-retarded self, he still pushed the line a little bit from "innocuous use of an innocent-sounding phrase." Had he said "We have the pick of the litter from the world's best and brightest to become Americans," nobody would've batted an eye. But to continue the metaphor to its extreme, where he's judging pups on their friskiness and vigor for obeying him in the hunt is a bit much. Many countries in fact have that "merit system" for immigration for certain situations. There's still craploads of refugees and illegal immigrants that are as unskilled as one can get, but from developing countries (and especially developed) you need to prove your value.

we don't do merit based at all.
it's family based.
33% of our immigrant population doesn't even have a highschool education, compared to 12% of the u.s. population. we're importing people that can't read and write in their own languages because the rich capitalist knows you've conditioned to think it is racist to object to someone from another country taking the jobs of our poorest citizens and knows he can pay the third world immigrant significantly less.
no where else in the world imports the poor like we do. you'd think you people would have had enough giving the rich more work for less money, but this is a proscription for increasing wealth disparity. we import so many people each month that we can't even keep up with workforce growth unless we create 150k jobs a month. and this is with the boomers retiring. this is with our birth rate a hair below replacement rate for the last 40 years. it's all immigration driven labor force growth.

oversupply of labor always leads to insane profits for the rich and awful conditions for everyone else. here's something I know you don't know. the f*cking blackdeath is what actually ended serfdom in much of europe. there wasn't enough labor. if the oversupply of labor remained labor never woudl have had the leverage to throw off those shackles.

Labor Markets After the Black Death:
Landlord Collusion and the Imposition of Serfdom in Eastern Europe and the
Middle East

Margaret Peters (Ph.D. Stanford University 2011)
Prepared for the Stanford Comparative Politics Workshop
January 10, 2010

From 1346 to 1353, the Black Death raged across Europe and the Middle East, killing
over one half of all Europeans and Middle Easterners, leading to a period of great labor scarcity.
Labor scarcity should have given peasants relatively more power and in Western Europe it did.
The Black Death lead in Western Europe to the end of Serfdom and the creation of new political
and economic rights for the average European.

relcec: why would I give a shiat how republicans...

Well, if one is going to choose between the two major parties, and happen to be a minority... well, one party at least tries to do something, while the other purposefully and actively works AGAINST anything even approaching minority interests.

Here's a hint, the GOP is the anti-minority party.

Dude, first off, settle down. Secondly, I really don't think American immigration is a barrier to sweatshop labor. There's this thing called "outsourcing" now.

DrewCurtisJr: This just proves how stupid and ignorant you really are.

Learn some history, and please make another retarded comment so I can have another good laugh.

You mean the history where all you white descendents of Europeans just showed up on the shores and were allowed in?

Here I thought it was almost here again because Republicans are whores to corporate America and have been since 1980 who happily outsource jobs, lower their taxes to nothing, and pay executives and stock holders ridiculous shares of the earnings?

relcec: Go you'd think you people would have had enough giving the rich more work for less money, but this is a proscription for increasing wealth disparity.

*twitch*

A proscription for increasing weatlh disparity? So it's going to prevent it?

I don't care if you can't spell, but don't use big words if you have no idea what they mean.
