One small bright spot at QB. Tannehill seems as though he's not inept. I don't know if he's going to be good...but he's not inept.

A snapshot of the ineptitude of this team...3 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft, including the number 1 overall pick have gone to the offensive line over the past 4 years, and it's still an area of concern.

Daniel Thomas - Traded 2 picks to move up in the draft...2nd round pick = bust
Chad Henne - 2nd round pick = bust
Michael Egnew - 3rd pick = bust
Pat White - 2nd round pick = bust
Vontae Davis - Couldn't hold starting position 1st round pick = traded (semi-bust)

...I could go on. And Dan Ireland still has a job.

Well certainly Ted Ginn Jr. isn't a bust, right? Oh he was? FML. I have been a Dolphins fan all my life and my mantra has always been similar to the Nationwide Anti-Bullying campaign "It gets better." But like the Bullying campaign, sometimes it doesn't get better.

That article was positive and talked about the positives, but there are a ton of negatives. No receiving core (or is corps), aging defense and loss of key people on defense (I loved Bell). Then we can talk about the new ownership and freaking Jeff Ireland.

Until we get a competent GM, there is no way the personnel will ever succeed. Going with Tannehill with absolutely no front line and no weapons other than Fasano (spotty) and Bush (ok) he has nothing. We are setting up Tannehill for failure.

I wanted Matt Moore or some other throw away to be the QB until we can bring some talent to surround Tannehill. Rodgers is a fantastic QB, but he has veteran WRs, a tall TE, a defense that can help get the ball back to the offense.

TL;DR where is my FIRELAND shirt?

Yeah, and the receiving corps shouldn't be this thin. Trading Brandon Marshall made no sense, but that's just another case of Ireland being infuriating. He sports this inflated sense of being a do-gooder when in reality he's a judgmental prick that doesn't understand the game he's followed his entire life.

I hope Tannehill pans out, but I'm honestly more psyched to watch Jovorskie Lane. I always loved his play in college (until he got super-fat, and he's apparently thinner than he's been since high school).

While he probably will be a bust, I think maybe since he hasn't played a regular season, it's too early to say the same about Egnew (though they should have drafted a WR right there). And I think the jury is still out on Thomas. He had a couple of good games last season filling in Bush.

I fully support the firing of Dolphins GM JEFF Ireland and whoever this Dan Ireland guy is.

I don't know if you remember, but there was an episode of Saved by the Bell where some cool actor came to Bayside to do a drug commercial. Turns out, he was doing drugs and was a bad guy. The tagline for the anti-drug commercial was "There's no hope with dope," which I believe sums up the Dolphins perfectly.

Good god...I don't know where I pulled the name "Dan" from, but I support firing him too.

I contend Daniel Thomas is a bust. He's shown very little potential and given where he was drafted he should have better instincts. Unless there is a massive turn around he will be nothing more than a middling RB on his best days.

Dr J Zoidberg: Matt Moore should have gotten the starting QB job.

You mean Matt "Deer in the Headlights" Moore?

When you look up 'bad QB decision making" in the dictionary you'll find his picture there staring back at you...just before he throws another pick-six across his body and off of his back foot.

Matt Moore is not remotely a good enough decision maker to run a Mike Sherman offense...he's a one read, two read, tuck it and run guy...and that's just a bad fit for Sherman. You know how good Moore is going to be, he's maxxed out his talent...Tannehill has potential and why not get him the snaps?

Ryan Tannehill as a QB at TAMU last year was the:

CognaciousThunk: re: Dolphins, Tannehill looks promising, but the team as a whole is still awful.

What, precisely, about him makes him promising? Completing roughly 50% of his passes in the preseason? Throwing one TD pass (against backups, in his first outing)? Scoring 20 points on 19 drives in preseason, with both TDs coming after opposing starters had left the game?

Being the 6th-best QB in his conference last year? Being the 5th-best QB of a university in Texas?

The fact that he was drafted by Jeff Ireland, the guy who just traded away the team's most talented offensive player and their good CB?

Under Shula, the Dolphins were in the top 10 in points scored 17 out of 26 seasons. Top 10 in point differential 18 out of 26 seasons.

Since they forced out Shula, the Dolphins have been in the top 10 in points scored 1 out of 15 seasons. Top 10 in point differential 3 out of 15 seasons.

Still bitter at the way they handled that, let's go ahead and dub it the curse of Shula.

In his defense the receivers did almost nothing for him. Lots of dropped passes that were very catchable in those preseason games. The worst thing he did was have several passes batted down.
