(Planet F1)   Maldonado finally concedes he needs to learn how to drive. Since Grosjean's not busy this weekend, perhaps he wouldn't mind giving Maldonado a few pointers   (planetf1.com ) divider line

In the 80s, Maldonado wasn't so good at catching fly balls in right field, either.

If he actually starts behaving like a real driver, that's fine. But I don't think he'll get the message until the FIA threatens his super license.

And while they're at it, they need to pull Karthikeyan's license. The fact that the Mobile Chicane can get a seat while Chandok and Algesuari can't is utterly ludicrous.

My guess is he's been worried what makes him so fast is what makes him so crash. And I think he'd be right.

I love a good preweekend race thread. I'm going to set my DVR right now.

I'll be at the Rolex race Sunday.

It's not like Grosjean is that great of a driver either...

And thus, Grosjean has a 1-race suspension to sit out (for coming *thisclose* to decapitating someone this past race). And one could argue that Maldonado should have gotten sat down for one race as well, for a pattern of poor racing decisions.

Stewards are supposed to judge on single events, not history. That said, Maldonado would be nowhere without his 40mil in oil soaked money. I've heard there contract calls for a further 60mil in 2013, so he ain't going nowhere... Williams needs the cash.

There are two types of F1 drivers, those who are good enough to be paid to drive, and those who have to pay to drive. Karthikeyan has to pay to drive while better drivers sit out doing media or test driving. I don't blame HRT or Caterham giving a drive to some one who brings with them enough money so that they can afford to race.

I wonder what odds you can get for a Maldinardo DNF and race penalty for Monza. I'm going to predict he takes out Massa doing something stupid and gets a race ban.

I remember watching him win earlier this season and thinking, "Perhaps he's turned a corner, so to speak."

My next thought was a very Dennis Miller-esque "Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong." And how...!

Interesting Quali. I had McLaren on the front row pegged, but Massa and di Resta were surprises. So was Schumi, to be honest.

D'Ambrosio doesn't seem to be threatening Grosjean's drive, though.
