I'm sorry, submitter, but are you implying that only Republicans are against same-sex marriage? Because if you are, you couldn't be more wrong.

The time it took to write that letter could have been better spent in his garage, with the car engine running.

Let me see if I am clear, the guy is mad at a sports team because some guy who plays on that team has a different opinion than he does. Oh, well that is completely reasonable.

I think my cab driver in NYC this week was a gay Muslim, do you have Hizzoner's number or should I call 311?

I try not to let on what an idiot I am, other people do so as well.

I don't like this emerging meme where subby makes us guess. I have no farking idea. You didn't even tell us if the player was for or against gay marriage. Turns out he was for and the Delegate was a Dem. Just give us the info muddahfuggahs!

Considering a Democrat with is currently under indictment for stealing campaign and General Assembly funds to pay for her wedding and private employees of her law firm is the reason we do not already have marriage equality, both sides can be dickwads on this issue. Tifffany Alston is also the reason we have question #3 on the ballot. Her faith caused her to re-examine her conscious after sponsoring the bill but stealing is honky-dorey with the Lord. Ugh.

Good on Brendon. I wish we had someone from one of North Carolina's teams speak out for equality. I doubt it would've made much of a difference. Bigots abound here.

Question for Mr. Burns;
Are you going to be writing letters to the boss of every company that employs people who support same-sex marriage?

GOP? Guessed wrong. Then I guessed what county and ethnic and came up wrong again.

Satanic_Hamster: Question for Mr. Burns;

Some idiot used the company wide email address to spout insanity about how same gender marriage would ruin society, used very derogatory language, and urged everyone to vote against it. This company offers same-sex partner benefits which include adoption assistance and I'm 90% sure the CEO is a lesbian. He didn't last lunchtime. Marylanders have turned the derp up to 11.

Um...good one? You're right, of course. It's only the vast majority of people against gay rights are Republicans. Like all political issues (gay rights, abortion rights, immigration, gun control, etc) you're not going to find total agreement within every member of a party.
But we go with generalizations in these matters.

wiki: Burns was born in Jackson, Mississippi on August 26, 1940. He attended Jackson State University for his undergraduate work before receiving a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Union University, a Master of Religious Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. After a brief stint in the United States Air Force, Burns became a Baptist minister in Baltimore.

Kind of iffy as the First Amendment is protection from the government censorship. And I think a Delegate demanding that a person be force to shut up is cutting it close.

As long as he doesn't do anything in an official capacity, like threaten to withhold subsidized stadium bucks. Oh wait, I'd be in favor of that.

A government officials trying to pressure and employer to inhibit an employee's speech on an issue not at all related to the company is most definitely a first amendment issue.

As for the contract, they usually cover stuff like badmouthing the league, the team, the coaches and the referees, as well as off the field embarrassing behavior, such as Roethlisberger's rape accusations (Guilty or not, he put himself in stupid situations that led to the incidents), but they don't usually cover your personal feelings on public issues. Otherwise these people would be on a 24 hour gag order. Besides, the Player's Association would never allow a contract like this.

There is absolutely no 'win' in this for the politician.

There are a lot of very religious blacks. It's not that blacks are against it. It's that old timey, hard core religious people are against it. And that covers a lot of blacks.

They are just a blindly intolerant as white, old timey, hard core religious zealots. It ain't a color thing...
