Instead of blowing up Princess Leia's planet, the first Death Star should have blown up Jar Jar Bink's planet.

As a childhood die-hard Star Wars fan, can we just finally be done telling Star Wars stories in every format? The whole thing has just become a self-parody.

LOL. Oh, for the days before the prequels killed my enthusiasm for the whole series. I still remember being bitterly disappointed when the photos of Hayden Christiansen being inserted into ROTJ leaked.

I wonder what SuperShadow is up to these days?

This December, Darth Vader's back to doing what he does best: Killing Jedi

Darth Vader is terrible at killing Jedi. Six movies and he never successfully kills a Jedi on his own.

Yes, when you can't spare one squad of clones to take out some children, he's your man.

The image of Darth Vader running around on a battlefield fighting alongside a bunch of Stormtroopers is kind of ridiculous. Like seeing Hitler with a sword or a rifle alongside the ranks in France. Or Nixon crawling down a foxhole in Viet Nam.

He kills plenty of Jedi in the EU (comics and books).

He killed Jedi in the Jedi Temple, including master fencer Cin Drallig (not shown in the film, but in the Episode III video game and the novelization [Obi-wan recounts it from the security recordings at the very least]).

Had to squint and grimace quite a bit to force my eyes to focus on the text in the ad (why I bothered I have no idea) in order to come up with this:

"Shortly after the birth of the Empire, Darth Vader master of combat, terror of his enemies, continues his purge of the Jedi Knights on a planet where his Jedi prey are revered. Amidst a planetwide insurgency, the Dark Lord must snuff out one surviving Jedi, as well as kill the fire of rebellion in the native populace. All will bow to the power of Vader and the Galactic Empire!"

I will wait, my breath bated, hoping that at long last my nightmare will end and I can finally pass from this life without having EVER seen this thing.

It's probably closer to a SEAL team member being supported by the National Guard.

What's the general feeling for the best Star Wars books to buy? As a child of the 80's, I obviously love the movies. Always wanted to try out the books but there's so many options. Help!

/I'm a little weird in that I loved both the new and the old (Minus JarJar, of course).

Splinter of the Mind's Eye and Han Solo at Star's End. You'll learn a lot from them.

One reason I considered the prequels ridiculous. Yoda was not a wartime consigliere and sending swarms of Jedi to fight robots in a battle arena surely wasn't the best use of resources. Ditto for the Jedi racing ahead of Clone Troopers prior to Order 66. One would think at the very least they would be used as diplomats and special forces units.

Surely there was a better way to use them. Unless they all could fight like Mace Windu could in the Gennedy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series,

The name was Jedi Knight for a reason. The analogy comes from medieval times when nobels fought alongside their peasant army with all of the advantages and the understanding that in defeat they'd likely not die (but be ransomed).

I liked the Heir to The Empire and Jedi Academy trilogy.

Yes, even the salami creatures.

I'll take that series (and especially the episode you refer to) over the 3D CGI "Pledge® Fine Wood Furniture Polish is the Best Hair Treatment in the Galaxy" series any day.

Quite honestly I still can't figure out why Anakin turned in the first place. In about 30 seconds time he goes from slightly naive jedi to galactic badass and mass murderer, just because he's afraid he'll be punished for not watching Windu's back?

When they finally wrap up Clone Wars there better be a scene where the Jedi council screws him over royally, just to help explain some of this.

That's not sad. That's a fleck.

Palpatine had Anakin convinced that Padama would die unless he could train Anakin how to save her. When Windu was about to kill Palpatine, Anakin panicked attacked Windu. At that moment, he became thoroughly convinced that every Jedi would try to kill them both and chose to follow the lead of killing all Jedi.

So he happily goes along with condemning trillions of people to thirty years of oppression and death just to save his own skin, and his wifes. That makes him not so much a tragically fallen hero as a selfish douchbag.

Man, Obi-wan really farked up that boys training.

I would rather read Old Republic stories than New Republic stories.

Revan > Vader.

For those of you looking for some Star Wars EU that won't suck, Timothy Zahn is writing a heist story involving Han, Lando, and Chewie, right after the end of Episode IV:

One could argue that Anakin lends a hand in killing Mace Windu.

The film could have used a scene where Palpatine appealed to Anakin's lust for power. Anakin is at heart a bad guy, not just some victim of circumstance. I don't hate the prequels as much as most do but they did sort of drop the ball as far as Anakin's turn to the dark side.
