Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: Jan Brewer back in town, huh?

No, subby said 'haboob', not 'hacoont'.

It has been a very dusty year.

I probably only got pics of 1/2 of the dust storms:

alaric3: what's a "haboob"?

It's the new trendy title for something that's been called a 'Dust storm' in the Phoenix area for about 150 years. Since the cool kids in Iraq had a nifty name for it, everyone decided to jump on the bandwagon in Phoenix.

Can you tell that I think this "haboob" shiat is utterly ridiculous? I hate trendy shiat.

author1701: MacWizard: Maechyll: I lived there from 1968 until 1998. Never heard a dust storm called a "haboob" until a year or so ago.

Been in AZ since 1980. Also never heard "haboob" until the last couple of years.

See above.

That is correct. I never watched Phoenix news broadcasts, especially when I lived in Tucson, Bullhead City and Flagstaff. Lived in Phoenix (Tempe) since 1993 and still don't watch local news. Have no idea who Bill Austin is. First saw the term used in print last year and this year was the first time I heard random people use it.

Hoping it goes back out of style soon. "Dust storm" is an accurate description which requires no explanation.

Normal weather patterns for this time of year?

There is a metric ton of derp in this state. The weather is sort of a nice break from alternate reality.

And nobody is really from AZ either. There was still a desert and a river there 60 years ago. So the derp migrated there from somewhere else over time and called it home.

diaphoresis: noone has noticed the incorrect word in the title? Envelopes is supposed to be envelops

When criticizing word usage, it's important to start off your post with a word that doesn't exist.

Mine is. We're overrun with them. Fortunately, hunting season starts soon.

why do they tell you to turn off your car's lights when you pull over in a dust storm? so people don't aim for you, thinking you can see and know where you are going?

eurotrader: For all the worrying and not much real action in the US concerning global climate change a good rallying call would be for the population of AZ be halved (By moving to other states) to actually make a dent in the amount of gases released in the US. Other than the Grand Canyon which is awesome, there is nothing in AZ Phoenix area that could not be done in an area with better weather.

Now wait a minute... if we only let the sane ones out, that's not going to be anywhere near 50%

/people that vote for Arpaio and Brewer should be forced to stay there and secede
