The jury returned a verdict after two days of deliberations, just an hour after stopping discussions to ask the judge the meaning of the word "unanimous."

oh please lord, don't let me them drop a charge on my head. whether they got it right or wrong this time, juries are terrifying.

Finally, now we can go back to hearing about the daily shootings by gang members. Although, the next major news story might be Chief Keef's supposed involvement in the shooting death of some young 'up and coming hip hop artist'.

Protip: IL isn't FL, so don't mock the kid after he gets shot if you don't want to be suspected!

This is going to be turned over on appeal. They made up a "hearsay is ok despite what The Constitution says" law just to prosecute Peterson. It just isn't gonna hold water.

Not that I think the guy is innocent.

Drew Peterson Found Guilty of Killing Wife, Making It Look Like Accident

He's not guilty of making it look like an accident. Because he's been found guilty. So he's only guilty of attempting to make it look like an accident. If he was guilty of making it look like an accident, he would have been found innocent.

2012-09-06 04:02:33 PM
FTFA; "Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio,"

Well I read that wrong. Would have been a double plus epic thread if both cases were related.

Prosecutors reminded the jury that a witness called by the defense admitted that the chance of a healthy adult drowning in a bathtub was "one in a million."

Don't ever say one in a million in court. I only have my ged in law and know that is a bad idea. Not that it mattered here.

They were looking for a loophole so they could return a not-quite-100%-unanimous vote and still convict. Someone was having trouble swallowing something.

But... Eight years?

I believe you're thinking of Scott Peterson. This is Drew Peterson, the ex-cop who is suspected of killing wives #3 and #4 (who remains missing and presumed dead).

Don't laugh, guys. I work with about 300 or so very intelligent people, people who's opinions I trust (for the most part).

Nobody in this entire company, however, can agree on what the word "done" means in the agile process.

Scott's dead wife was named Lacey. Drew's (other) dead wife (no, not that one, the other other one) was named Stacey.

It's easy to confuse them.

Sorry to say my mother in law insisted on watching the lifetime movie while we were visiting. Overall, it wasn't horrible but I just kept thinking "the guy from Tommy Boy is killing women now?"

"Just to be clear, judge, what does unanimous mean?"

Judge: It means everyone agrees. All of you say 'innocent' or 'guilty.'

"Ok, and to stomp a mudhole, if we were to ask correctional officers to stomp a mudhole in someone's ass..?"

Judge: That would be, I believe, to deliver a severe beating to someone.

"Right, and if we were to include the term "Kingswood Smiley" or "Russian Mouthwash" in our comments?"

Judge: Those, um, are not legal terms. It's my understanding that someone bites, or you make someone...

"You make Peterso, uh, make someone bite a curb and boot the back of their head, yes, so you smash their farkin' teeth..."

Judge: Just a second. Where, may I ask, is the jury going with this deliberation?

If a whole jury of tards don't know the definition of "unanimous", what are the odds they know what "beyond a reasonable doubt" means.

He's guilty as Fark, but hearsay is not a nail in the coffin.

His defense attorney sounds fat.

"They're trying to nail Jell-O to a tree -- it's an accident, it's an accident, pure and simple."

"The state has not proved this case beyond a reasonable doubt; this case is riddled with doubt like a piece of Swiss cheese," he said.

Two days to convict in a trial where the strongest argument was, "everyone thinks he did it so why not convict him?"

He's almost certainly guilty of one both of the murders, but...
