As funny as Airplane! is what really impresses me is that a movie with tits, numerous drug references (including a woman doing lines off a mirror) and an endless stream of sex jokes(two involving children) managed to get a PG rating. I'd like to see a filmmaker try that now.

The reason why Airplane is so funny--and so many of the really good Simpsons are so funny--isn't so much because of content but pacing. Timing is everything. And Airplane was very well timed.

PG-13 didn't exist back then, so "brief nudity" was actually okay in a PG film.

The line I always found jaw-dropping--even then--was the little girl saying she takes her coffee "black. Like my men."
