Gun nuts are making inroads.

/why should the right wingers have all the fun?

Is "teabagger" wrong? Should I not call them that?

2012-09-06 01:42:04 PM
Honestly, it really seemed like some of those people were just playing along.

2012-09-06 01:48:03 PM
You say that like that's a bad thing. You can't include people who want to kill you.

2012-09-06 01:50:12 PM
Yeah, we got our share of idiots. We generally don't put them up for office, tho.

/bachmann, west, king, king, wilson, walsh, akin, foxx, all currently in office

I'm pretty liberal and have a few guns, and do carry. I know a few others who have and do, as well.

So that's changing.

2012-09-06 02:14:33 PM
The problem is that "whackjob" is defined as "anyone actually left-leaning".

2012-09-06 02:14:59 PM
There is a name for whackjobs, gun nuts, and Teabaggers. We call them REpublitards.

Same. Actually I don't know any democrats who don't own at least one gun. Its state law here in MN.

We're also willing to point out that they're morans when it's rightly deserved, rather than defend everything they say and do as infallible at all costs just because "they're on our team".

Unfortunately, this is the reason we won't bring sense to our gun laws. Or even talk about them at the DNC.

We even invite the redneck freaks in!

I like guns and support hunting rights. I think christian conservatives are neither christian or conservative and can fark off. I think the overwhelming majority of tea party members are either vastly uneducated or racist.....very few are worth listening to.

I consider myself a pragmatic social liberal and currently find myself vehemently opposed to the GOP platform that has been cobbled together by radical "christian conservatives" and folks who are claiming to be fiscally conservative but instead just want to funnel the same amount of money into a few benefactors hands.

Since quoting past Republicans has become so en vogue in the past 24 hours, allow me to offer one:

a.abcnews.com
"So?"

*ATTENTION REPUBLICANS: I know you've been programmed to forget this man, but he was vice president twice by your own doing. Supported torture, let energy companies write energy policy, shot a guy in the face, a few more war crimes, yadda yadda. But, just as a reminder, YOU elected him, but you seemed to have lost his number come convention time.

And humor. Democrats appear more capable of recognizing humor, especially sarcasm & self-deprecating humor, than Republicans.

Are there some good, righteous, God-fearing, gun-toting liberals out there? Sure. Quite a few I would imagine.

Though I'd guess that particular population isn't trying to tell others they're evil, immoral, an affront to god, or threatening to engage in open rebellion.

Context people. context.

I don't own a gun. Now you know one. Not that I have anything against guns, or people owning them. I just don't have one.

SO the point of the DS piece is that the Dems want to welcome everyone except those who have sworn to destroy them?

Seriously, I usually LOVE Daily Show stuff, but this seems like a 'Water is Wet' type of revelation. Maybe this is the best Stewart could dig up, since the RNC went so overboard and crossed so many lines that 'lines' don't exist anymore?

2012-09-06 02:29:28 PM
Maybe a local anomaly, but the best armed people I know around here are the most politically liberal. Most ardent democratic fundraiser in the hood (a woman) has eight handguns and about a dozen rifles/shotguns.

Think it's time to retire that pacifist hippie stereotype.

Lol, I started wondering that last night too.

That voice was Murray-esque.

The truly partisan party faithful think that anyone who disagrees with the Brady Campaign is a gun nut, not realizing that outside of their coastal enclaves there are millions and millions of Democrats who hunt, collect, or shoot competitively.

I didn't see any Neo nazi skinheads or KKK members there, why doesn't the DNC include everyone equally? THOSE BIGOTS. How dare they not allow bigots, that's bigotry!

Yeah, of course we know each other. Whenever you talk to someone about Democrats owning guns, you can say, "Hey, I know a Democrat who doesn't own a gun. Yeah, his name is 'Cythraul,' and I know him from Fark."

And they totally wouldn't look at you weird at all.

2012-09-06 02:42:52 PM
Yes, the Democratic Party tries hard to be inclusive -- as long as you limit "inclusion" to actual homo sapiens. Racists, bigots, xenophobes, anti-science fundamentalists, gay-bashers, and other low-lifes are not meant to be included in civilized society.

The difference is between gun owners and gun fetishists.

No need to be so redundant, subby.

I taught my nine-year-old daughter to shoot a gun last weekend. I am also a flaming liberal.

Unfortunately? Fear of armed right-wing whackjobs going nuts are among the top reasons for us lefties to own a firearm. Someone's gotta shoot back at them when they finally crack. I know quite a few liberal-leaning people my age (20s) who own guns. It seems like it was the previous generation that has such an aversion to them, to the detriment of the party. Gun control really is a losing, dead issue outside of big cities. The rash of mass shootings in recent years says a lot more about how our society has a problem with mental health issues (and lack of care thereof) much more so than gun issues.

2012-09-06 02:48:15 PM
Though I agree that the characterization of the Republican party as a bunch of drunken, toothless, fat, hillbillies is stereotypical, this doesn't mean that using any adjective to describe the group is inappropriate. The right wing is demonstrably anti-science, anti-choice, and rigidly devoted to party purity. It seems that many are more driven by ideology, be it their interpretation of the Bible, or Atlas Shrugged, than the facts on the ground.

They may be perfectly pleasant human beings outside the realm of politics, but to welcome with open arms those who have spent the last 4 years and beyond calling us Marxists and worse would be ridiculous.

2012-09-06 02:48:47 PM
At least the lady at the end understood what he was getting at. I doubt a teabagger would ever understand or value inclusiveness. In fact, teabaggers are proud to be exclusive. It makes them feel exceptional.

2012-09-06 02:50:30 PM
If you like to hunt and fish, you should vote for candidates who support wildlife preservation.

Are you me, because this is exactly what I think. Libby-lib with guns and supportive of gun rights. Second Amendment Foundation is a way better alternative to the NRA anyway: they actually do the leg work for what they say without the crazy conservative bullshiat.

Fark It: The truly partisan party faithful think that anyone who disagrees with the Brady Campaign is a gun nut, not realizing that outside of their coastal enclaves there are millions and millions of Democrats who hunt, collect, or shoot competitively.

Yep, and the gun nuts have a name for them, Fudds. They truly only like the gun owners that vote republican.

"Blech!"

That was pretty funny.

Because the Democratic party should be held to a higher standard than the Republican one?

/also: Cue Righties forgetting about this segment the next time Jon Stewart says something mean about the Right-Wing.
