CNN is MSNBC's competitor, subby. That's what they're supposed to say.

MSNBC is too liberal for most Americans.

MSNBC employs Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan.

Liberalism is dead in America.

How did he describe Fox News during the RNC? One sentence short of slobbering BJs?

MSNBC is clearly liberal. Token conservatives don't change that. This isn't a qualitative assessment of their coverage, just ad objective observation. Their flagship programs are hosted by people who aren't just a little liberal. In fact, they moderate their message when on-air. (I just finished Maddow's awful book "Drift". It was disappointingly poor analysis - I had expected more from her, despite knowing she was a liberal. But it was almost as painful as an Ann Coulter book.

Almost.)

duh.

i watched MSNBC, mainly because maddow is one of the smartest pundits out there, and also because chris matthews is unhinged most of the time. i did feel sorry for poor steve schmidt though.

that being said, MSNBC as a whole is to fox news as a minnow is to a whale. there is virtually no comparison. they are both ostensibly news organizations, but fox is the de facto media arm of the republican party. it was conceived as such and has remained steadfastly so for nearly 20 years. MSNBC has a few liberal pundits on at night, but that's about it. their actual reportage is pretty down-the-middle.

Maddow and Hayes are pretty liberal - I don't really think that's controversial.

Exactly...it's been replaced by communism.

This is what "conservatives" actually believe.

Well, then, that should tell you something. Because FOX News hosts don't moderate their message. And yet, even after moderation, MSNBC is still too liberal for most Americans. Plus, they still have Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan.

So I reiterate: liberalism is dead in this country.

I think Buchanan's been gone for a long time.

msnbc is slightly to the left of Obama, so moderate left.
They only look extreme to viewers of foxnews, the Republican channel as conceived by Ailes during the Nixon administration.

cnn is just incompetent.

Fox News - Proactive
MSNBC - Reactive

There's a difference. Not that I'd ever watch any cable news, ever, but they aren't quite the same.

That's because MSNBC is the mouthpiece of the Democratic party while CNN is the mouthpiece of Twitter comments.

Especially since MSNBC has been topping CNN quite often in the ratings lately on a regular news night.

But lets go to Twitter and see what people think about that.

I stopped watching all cable news a long time ago. I get more news from BBC World News and CNN International than I ever get here in the states anymore.

At least the token conservatives are allowed to make a counter-point. On Fox the tokens are just their as either straw-men or are yelled at whenever they try to speak.

I'm enjoying MSNBC's coverage. I always do. I just wish they'd get rid of Al Sharpton (and Martin Bashir is a close second). Those two are grating on the nerves.

I think more viewers will eventually leave CNN for MSNBC. CNN has dumbed itself down to the point that it's painful to watch, with the exception of Soledad O'Brien. CNN lost it's footing somewhere, personally I think it's when they stopped offering smart opinion and started with that lame and lazy "both sides are bad" crap in the face of an ever more extremist right wing in this country.

Sounds like he is parroting the Stewart criticism of Fox which goes something like this:

Fox opinion folks say outrageous statements. This gets recycled during their "straight news" as "some people say" questions of guests and whatnot. There is a message agenda that is set from the top and rigorously enforced throughout the various line-ups. If you watch the channel, it certainly appears to be the case in most shows. There are exceptions of course, but not many.

MSNBC is just a liberal reaction to the events of the world, especially national politics. Its more of a liberal cheering section than an orchestrated propaganda effort. There doesn't seem to be the message discipline and collusion that goes on at Fox.

That's what I took from it anyway.

That's their big problem. I like a station that broadcasts from the center, but for godsakes don't just smile and nod at every idiot that comes on your station.

Get some balls and actually challenge some of the things being said, both Republican and Democrat. Then maybe you might get some creditability again.

I was about to ride cable news for the fact that all three cable news networks perform pathetically in the ratings.

I shouldn't be doing that during convention time, because the best of the bunch (MSNBC) came in 11th on Tuesday. Which is actually fairly respectable.

That was still worse than five separate episodes of a Big Bang Theory marathon and two episodes each of Family Guy and Counting Cars. And one episode of Teen Mom.

O'Donnell comes off as an insufferable prick. Even when he's right he's annoying. At least Rachel is thoughtful.
