Come for the games, stay for the terrible Engrish

But seriously, SHOCK TROOPERS #1? It's not as overlooked as one would think.

I'll add

Nam 1975 was one of my favorite neo-geo games, I'm guessing samurai showdown isn't on that list because it isn't overlooked?

I play the sh*t out of King of Monsters. Great game.

It was quite the popular series, there's been at least 5-6 games just on the NG alone. Last Blade could be said to have copied the weapon/fighting style of those games.

Another great overlooked title

No Money Exchanger, Blazing Star, Baseball Stars, or Neo Mr. Do?

Fail.

Nadie_AZ: I play the sh*t out of King of Monsters. Great game.

Same here.

Looking back, It really wasn't much more than a standard wrestling game with monsters. Aside from being able to grab a tanker truck and throw it at the other guy. And the ring ropes were electrified.

Great stuff.

Last Blade II looks cool... time to look for a good NeoGeo emulator...

It's funny, because I wasn't a fan of the wrestling games at all. Yet, somehow, King of the Monsters just sucked me in.

I cant believe last blade 2 was overlooked

I have Magician Lord on the Wii. It even features great mistranslated sayings, similar to "all your base"

War of the Monsters on PS2 is a great throwback to it. 3D environments, nice roster and generally all around fun to play.

Blazing Star, Last Blade II, King of the Monsters...I see that's been covered.

The Last Blade 2

// still waiting for the Last Blade 3.

Last Blade 2 is from an era when fighting systems were fairly balanced, with just the right level of technical acuity required. Vastly different from the 'marvel vs capcom' style with 20 something other teammates jumping in on your fight.

put me down for loving King of the Monsters. Though I was always hoping for a Godzilla version, so when Wii made Destroy All Monsters! Melee, I played the shiat out of that.

/MechaGodzilla is a cheating biatch.
//which makes destroying him with Rodan after a lot of practice that much sweeter.

It's funny since MVC1 and Last Blade 2 came out at the same time. And the MVC style of play started in previous games such as X:COTA, MSH, SFVsX, and SFVsMSH.

Also, right now there are plenty of new games that don't follow the MVC style of fast paced play. SF4, Tekken6, VF5:Final Showdown, DOA5, etc.

There was one that I used to play down the arcade quite a lot that I think was on the Neo-Geo, but I can't remember the title or much about it. It was a first-person beat-em-up. I think your character was a secret agent.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? It was good fun and the first-person perspective was quite rare at the time.

Damn right. They also did Ghost Pilots, Blue's Journey, Last Resort, and a few other Neo titles that didn't make this silly list.

Seriously. Everyone knows about Shock Troopers.

I wonder if the new KoF has seen enough success for SNK to roll out new 2D games. I'd cough blood for a new Samurai Shodown, ifyaknowwhatimean.

Precisely! I added the Y to maintain the same aesthetic as Terry Bogard. It's been my online alias for 11 years now.

It ain't bragging if it's true:

I have a 2002 NEO-GEO AES (last year they made 'em) I bought from eBay in 2007 for $145.

Then, on PURE FLUKE, an arcade machine (1993 MVS) was for sale through an amusement company in North Dakota. It had 4 titles and, sight unseen, I bought it for the ludicrous price (seriously. The damn MVS systems go for under $100) of $300 and "If I wanted" 4 carts for an extra $200.

The idiot thought the system was more than the games.

Expecting to wind up with seconds of 'Nam 1975, Baseball Stars and (thirds of) Fatal Fury, I wound up with two carts I nearly shiat my pants over:

Metal Slug 2
SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom.

The other two were Magician Lord and Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move 1). But no one cares about those; FARKING SVC CHAOS AND METAL SLUG FARKING 2!

/$200. I will never get a deal that good again on the secondary market for SNK titles.
//Sold the MVS for $150 locally.

Hm, The Super Spy and Art of Fighting 2 deserve some love. AOF2 had some great music and background scenes to match each fighter.

Ah, Magical Drop. The origin of everyone's favorite bouncy GIF.

Neo Geo was awesome. Besides Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, Samurai Showdown seemed to be the only other fighting game that had regular players. Primal Rage went forever untouched.

Hell yeah, though I'm more of an EX Minakata Moriya kind of guy.
What kills me is that Last Blade 3 was in development when SNK went under, along with Mark of the wolves 2

neo geo had way more then 7 games

Great deal. Even though Metal Slug X was the update to MS2, finding an *original* MS2 MVS cart is still a great score.

Yup! AOF2 and 3 are great.

Almost forgot to mention the Sengoku series although 3 was the best.

Windjammers was actually a huge surprise. Neat title, very difficult game too. They got that one right on the list
