Zing. Though really, this is one of the lesser "consumerist idiot" stories; dude likes the pot pies, has had them before, something was amiss, didn't have time to replace it, wonders why KFC hasn't even responded to his complaint. Sure, another non-story, but we've seen far, far worse from them.

"I'd like to register some complaints. First, the food here is terrible. I wouldn't eat here again if my life depended on it. Even smelling the food made me feel sick, and I wouldn't feed this garbage to my dog.

Second, the portions were too small."

Whatever happened to, you know, just not eating there again?

You're going out to eat. Once you decide to do that you give up control of your food since you're no longer the one who will prepare it. Not saying there isn't recourse if your food is awful/unsanitary/burned but what do you really expect from minimum wage "cooks" who just want to go home and smoke a blunt?

/No, I don't make all my own meals
//But I don't take things back to McDonalds/BK/KFC and ask for my money back
///Seriously, you want your $6.50 back? And you're willing to waste your own time arguing with KFC PR and corporate drones?

What, no pics of the offending food? That's the greatest thing about camera phones. You can have damaging photos on Facebook before the manager can react or the cops smash your phone.

If I got food from a restaurant and felt it was tainted by chemicals and possibly unsafe to eat, I'd be pissed if the company didn't even acknowledge my concerns.

This isn't a "my food was cold, give me a free meal" situation, this is something that could make other people sick and the fact that KFC doesn't even care is disturbing.

If I'm not mistaken their chicken pot pie has more fat and way more saturated fat (37 grams) than anything else on their menu. That's more saturated fat than 10 McDonald's hamburgers.

Most of them are. Unfortunately, that is what the site seems to attract. People whining because they didn't get precisely what they want, no matter how unreasonable that is.

I actually like their new chicken bites. Reminds me of the Chik-Fil-A nuggets. My biggest issue with KFC is how scrawny they fried chicken is. There is just no meat at all on the bones compared to what I get at Ezell's, a local southern style chicken resturaunt here in the Seattle area.

2012-09-06 11:03:07 AM
I wonder what specific chemical taste/smell was present here. My local Taco Bell/KFC has a bad habit of letting the oil go rancid. I wonder if that's what happened here. Rancid oil tastes and smells very "chemically" and although it's not good for you, it's not really toxic.

If one is concerned about saturated fat, perhaps all fast food should be avoided, yes?

Actually, I bet it was in central MA. They've had a number of them close up overnight due to health code violations.

If one chooses to overgeneralize about fast food, then obviously, the answer is yes.

Unfortunately, Chik-Fil-A doesn't have any resturaunts in the Seattle area, plus as good as they are I feel guilty eating there when I travel now, after the political situation they created recently.

Went to a local Chinese joint that had a lunch buffet a few years ago... There was this woman sitting across the aisle from us that horked down several plates of food from the buffet. Shoveling it in and then getting up for 2nds... 3rds... 4ths... When she got done she went up to the checkout counter and told the guy how horrible the food was, it was the worst she ever had, and she refused to pay for it, and walked out. And they let her get away with it.

The food was ok, btw. Not spectacular, but certainly ok.

I would want coupons for other things, if I had eaten there before and like them.

I asked for a sandwich with no mayo, (as I am allergic to it) at Boston Market. I was talking to another customer and the lady that took my order the whole time about how you should have to ask for mayo if you want it.
I sat down and took one bite and There it was, loads of mayo! I walked back to the counter and show the lady. She told the girl to get me another one with no mayo. Guess what she did. She used the same chicken and scraped off the mayo (not all). I called their home office and they were very nice. They sent me a coupon for any size single meal. Of course, i ordered the biggest one they had and made sure the girl was not near my food! sometimes it does pay to complain.

The KFC near me has had a broken drive-through speaker for over a year now, with just a sign over it saying pull up to the window to order. I'd like to think that KFC Corporate occasionally checks out the condition of their franchises and would force this to be fixed, as it creates a hellaciously long line in the drive through since nothing can be prepped ahead of time, but nothing has ever been done.

The thing that really makes it stand out is that there is a Popeyes literally across the street from this KFC, and that particular store is always clean, well kept, with a working drive-through. It always seems like there are about 2-3x more people at the Popeyes than the rundown don't-give-a-fark KFC. You'd think they'd notice that and get their act together.

That's alright. The Fark intelligentsia has informed me that high levels of saturated animal fat are part of a heart healthy diet. Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time for my morning breakfast of 10 egg yolks fried in bacon grease.

Some employees just don't care. I was at the grocery store last month when a woman in her 70s was at the self-checkout with a 1.5 L bottle of wine. She pretended to scan it, pushed some buttons on the touch screen, and walked away. I mentioned it to the employee manning self-checkout area who shrugged her shoulders and went back to staring into space.

I worked at McDonald's in high school. Customers would frequently say "I'm never coming back here again" over stuff like this. They would come back. If their highest priority was food quality, they wouldn't be eating McDonald's or KFC pot pies to begin with.

Their highest priorities are convenience and price today and it will be the same tomorrow. They'll be back.

unfortunately, at the risk of lawsuits, a lot of companies mark it up to what is known as "shrink" - inevitable theft that is simply written off...what if the employees confronted that woman, she tried to run, tripped and fell, broke her hip, then sued the company for chasing her...see what i mean?

2012-09-06 11:21:01 AM
Not that I'm sympathetic with the guy but I don't see whats so horrible about the situation. Ignoring the "evil giant corporation bit":

- Man enjoys product from company
- Man purchases product from company that is not up to usual standards and is possibly unsafe
- Man contacts company about said experience under the impression that the company cares about its business and would want to know if something is amiss
- Man surprised when the above is found to be completely false.

Now, the last part probably shows a bit of naivete about how the world works and I don't really feel it was necessary to continue biatching about it on the internet but all in all, its not the worst consumerist article I've read.

If it was me, I just wouldn't have gone back
