Did subs even read TFA? "The National Enquirer reported that the former Today show co-host is being offered $8million and possibly more to dish the dirt on her former colleagues."

I probably never watched the Today show ever until late in the Ann Curry career when I'd get home from work at 7 AM. I knew who Matt Lauer and Al Roker were of course but I didn't know her and the show was pretty baffling to me.

It was pretty uncomfortable to watch really. Matt Lauer really comes off like an amazing dick. How did he become a popular AM host? At least Al is moronic but friendly. Matt looks like he secretly is taking detailed notes about why and how he hates every single person in his vision.

I've been wondering how the makeup department let Matt Lauer keep that awkward haircut for, what, a decade?

Um, she still has a huge contract with NBC, so don't expect any dirt about anybody at the Today Show. I think she's smart enough to know that nobody else is going to pay her that kind of money.

I have a cousin that works on the Today Show, he's 5 minutes away from me in Charlotte right now. He said Anne Curry is just as nice as her on screen persona. When they got stuck in Antarctica, she had him and the rest of the crew come out in front of the camera thanking them for their hard work. He never badmouths Lauer since he works under him.

/always gets the backstage gossip from all the news networks. Found out Steve Bartelstein was a freak way before he was fired.

//Said Tim Russert was a really nice guy. His desk was always filled with twinkies and snacks though.

I think she's very nice, just not very smart. It's uncomfortable when she tries to come up with an unscripted question. As a news reader, she was fine, but as an interviewer she was in over her head. Who among us hasn't seen somebody at work that was promoted to a level they couldn't handle? IMO.

Matt Lauer's had a good run. I don't care if he's a jerk, I didn't watch him at all. But if he's smart, he'll corroborate all of Ann Curry's stories and help her make a bunch more up, let her write a transcript and sell it for $16 million. Both profit, retire, disappear, and live comfortably on opposite sides of the globe.

She seems like she would have a lot of enthusiasm for, you know.

"the peter principle"

8 million for the book, and then Lauer will sue her for 25 million. Just watch. Libel is a big deal.

Considering Lauer just signed a new contract with NBC that will pay him a reported $25 million/year, I don't think he'd be too interested in that deal.

I think this is an accurate assessment. I don't think Ann Curry was a bad person, just bad (really bad) at her job. She always seemed way to eager to cover horrible tragedies just so she could whip out the "Ann Curry Sad Voice" - the only emotion she could ever convey, and she loved doing it so much so she would whip it out at completely inappropriate times.

Well then. Sounds like money well spent.

Look at the morning news shows target audience. Hint it is not straight males. The shows are about cooking , shopping, fashion, Hollywood etc with brief segments of actual news, weather and sports squeezed in. Think of them as the Oprah news channel.

I am convinced that the male co-hosts of these shows have to be at least at least a little bit gay if not closeted to account for the appeal to women (gay best friend thing) and for the whiny biatchiness

I buy that completely! I see plently of AM male hosts, a lot of gay, a lot of cooking, a lot of enthusiasm.

Matt Lauer is none. He looks annoyed all the time. He brings no charm or charisma to the TV. Ann Curry may have been a bit of a cold fish, but she seemed honest. Matt Lauer looks like he's doing all he can to pretend to enjoy whatever is happening around him, but usually failing miserably. He's just terrible. Doesn't Seacrest need yet another job?

Perfect. I never knew what it was about her that seemed awkward, but you nailed it. I remember watching her interview that kid that knocked up Sarah Palin's daughter. After the first few questions, it was obvious she didn't know what to do with a 5 minute interview after he basically ended it in 30 seconds with nothing but 'yes' and 'no' responses. It was painful to watch.

/that kid came off dumber than a box of rocks...

Just before the Olympics Samantha did a segment with her brother, he flew her around in his jet. Towards the end she gave a real smile, not the fake thing she keeps plastered to her face 24/7.

Haven't watched the Today show since.

/would love the chance to kick her out of bed tho
//not that I would do such a thing
///be on the kicked end, most likely
