Yeah, what has Calipari done for UK after 3 seasons?

Don't hire drunks.

MisterLoki: Don't hire drunks.

Have you ever spent time in Lubbock? If TTU didn't hire drunks looking for a second chance, I'm not sure who they're going to hire. Trying to sell the urban hoops prospect on the place (5-and-a-half-hours from anything) is one of the hardest tasks I could imagine.

Psh, whatever, this is just the coach being tough and trying to turn whiny soft athletes into men. Why back in the day when I when I played sports for Big Important School or Organization, the coach would beat us with clubs, make us run across lava, and killed one member of our family if we dropped a pass. Take off the skirts and man up nancies!!!!

And they fired Mike Leach for putting a whiny brat in a closet for a few minutes.

FTA: "I remember that day when we went almost all day. We didn't leave until 9 p.m. or so. It was pretty bad. A lot of guys were really hurt after it. One guy had a stress fracture in both legs."

The player who suffered the stress fractures was identified as Kader Tapsoba in the report.

"(Tapsoba) was literally crying at practice," a source told CBS' Jeff Goodman. "He couldn't even run and Gillispie had him running up and down the steps at the arena. I remember the doctor getting the X-rays back and coming to practice and telling Gillispie it was really bad. He'd just ice him up and tell him to go practice."

He needs to be fired. He needs to be fired now, and barred from the NCAA for life. >:-(

You were lucky. We had to wake up at 10 o'clock at night, half an hour before we went to bed, eat a lump of cold poision, practice 29 hours a day and pay for full tuition, housing, food, and textbooks, and when we finished practice, coach would kill us and dance about on our graves.

All of that for an 8-23 record. Looks like he needs to have them practice longer.

Young up-and-comer, had Texas A&M looking like they were on the right path, and beat Louisville in the NCAA Tournament. Had a reputation as a hard worker as well, which the Kentucky fanbase really wanted after Tubby.

The thing that worries me about this is that you don't just start bending the rules on things like practice time one morning, you develop that over time. I sincerely hope UK was monitoring him- and Sandy Bell* is awesome at her job, so she probably did- because if there's even an NCAA inquiry into his time at UK, there will be NO stopping the trolls saying "Look! We told you Kentucky runs a dirty program!" Doesn't matter that Gillispie didn't win there, or that player mistreatment- although not to this level- was part of what got him fired.

I'm 100% in agreement with the guy who suggested a lifetime ban from the NCAA. At a minimum, a 5-year Show Cause.

*On the one hand, it's nice to be a fan of a school with an amazing NCAA Compliance Officer. On the other hand, it kinda says something about your school's past when a good chunk of the fanbase knows the name of the NCAA Compliance Officer.

fark Gillispie, fark him in his drunken ego-bloated ass. Say what you want about Bobby Knight, the man was one of the best coaches who ever coached. He was a guy driven by a need to win the right way and, up until he started tipping over his water dish later in his career, generally was interested in looking out for his players.

The open secret is, a lot of coaches are as big of assholes as Bob Knight. They just have/had the sense to keep it off camera where no one was looking. Hell Al McGuire used to get into fistfights with his players and everyone thinks he's a saint.

Bobby Knight is a megalomaniac and a bully who destroys anyone who dares disagree with him. He also ran a clean program and his kids went to class and graduated. Gillespie is an amoral douchebag. Apples and oranges.

OK, won't argue with that one but GAWD was it fun having Knight when I was there.

Only because that whiny brat was Craig James' entitled-attitude-filled rugrat.

And I'd take Knight over Gillespie ANY day.
