Yes, but you can take credit for it if you happen to be in the right place at the right time. There was nothing remarkable about the "Regan" recovery, but it coincided with "voodoo economics" so people made the connection.

So, thank you for our recovery Obama?

Simple: Obama bad. That's their metric. If we had 2% unemployment, the GOP would STILL be bashing him for not seeing to it that every single American was employed.

It doesn't matter what reality is, their metric is simple: Obama bad.

the recession ended in 2009. it's true, the great bush recession was one of the worst in history - and the recovery has been held back by republican political bullshiat, but it's still a recovery.

2012-09-05 10:55:51 AM
That's not always true Mitt. At some point the 1% will own so much of the country that the proles won't have enough capital or access to capital to restart the economy. Not that the 1% ives a shiat because everything is still awesome i you are rich. The economic lay of the land has fundamentally changed since the 1980's and things don't work the way they used to. Tax cuts and austerity aren't going to fix what ails our nation.

Barack Obama got elected. Immediately up became down, black became white, and the inevitable recovery after a recession became completely evitable.

It's always going to recover until we enter a thousand years of biblical darkness.  Come on people, don't you listen to Chuck Norris?

Not really Mitt. Jobs will never recover the way they hope without another bubble. There just isn't enough demand to drive growth. The last two growth periods in America have been bubbles, and without a strong middle class to drive demand we'll remain in a slow decline until the last credit card is maxed out.

That and "Obama is forcing gay marriage on us" are my favorites right now. Carlos has the edge for sincerity, tho. Who'd a thunk the star of Good Guys Wear Black could be so nutty?

It's the biblical end times.  I read revelations.  It said, and I quote "Yea, tho a black will rule the greatest nation on the earth and god will weep for he clearly posted a whites only sign and the end will be upon us".

And this is why we need a serious tech stimulus. Get the next innovation going out there. Public education and military expenditures created the backbone for the internet, which began the last tech bubble. We need universal broadband wi-fi at this point, or something fun like that. Something we can't even imagine right now. 3-D fully haptic teledildonics with an affordable interface. Get everyone out there their own personal Orgasmatron, or T-1000 Real Doll, and you'll see some interesting economic change.

And chafing. Lots and lots of chafing.

Meanwhile, the middle class is fixing to boom in places like China & India.

He also thinks that you should start a business by borrowing money from your parents, that letting Detroit die would have been a better option, and that homeless people should just call for help on their phones.

It's easy to just assume things will work out when you're rich, white, and things have always worked out for you.

I got an idea, lets elect Republicans that brought us the second great depression.

Surely they will fix everything!

INGRAHAM: Isn't that a hard argument to make?

ROMNEY: Have you got a better one, Laura? Because let me tell you, we've been looking for a better argument all campaign season and we haven't found one. Seriously, this line is polling just slightly better than the ``Rich people should pay a lower tax rate than poor people'' line that I was forced to abandon.

Even the deflection, finger-pointing, denial and statistical pop shots are welcome. This election needs to be about the economy.

Not that the War on Women wasn't fun, mind you.

So Mittens is a turkey that can't fly.

The President might be the single most influential individual in the government but at this point I'm more worried about what the single most powerful branch is going to look like: anyone have figures on congressional races?

Nah, they'd be bashing him for having too low of an unemployment rate and having all sorts of pent up demand from job creators not being able to realize their full potential because they could not find qualified people to work for them.
