The club is relying on testimony from a cultural anthropologist who has studied exotic dance and visited Nite Moves.

Best use of a degree, ever.

I tried to get my health insurance to pay for getting up off of that thing and dancing until I felt better, but it wouldn't.

As an aside, what's the NYS budget deficit for this year?

How would you monitor this?

Speculating here:
One would think waitstaff will largely get tipped within a certain range, even if the waitstaff is a hot chick.

But some strippers are going to get a lot more business than others.

Industrial hygiene is often referred to as an "art" does that mean I don't have to pay income taxes now?

So do servers.

Too bad our resident artist has flown the coop. We could have gotten an informed opinion on the matter.

Um.....it's a tip, even if you consider it art. If you buy a painting from an artist, they still have to report the income.

Last I recall, art doesn't arouse people by rubbing on their genitals and putting their's in your face.

This seems to be about the establishment paying taxes (sales tax?), not the dancers' income tax... Apparently, they have some tax loophole that exempts art performances from whatever tax it is, so the place is just trying to use the same loophole...

Yup, and it certainly sounds to me like they have a valid case.

Grables' Daughter.

I miss her. She always made stripper threads fun. I heard she ran afoul of a modmin.

There is some precedent - Norway declared it an art and exempt from sales tax (VAT) a few years back - but they're going to have to wrangle with the whole "community standards" idea here. I don't see how it's even possible, given that the distinction between art and not-art is entirely dependent on the viewer - art moves you somehow, not always intentionally; not-art doesn't. It's entirely possible for the same strip tease to enlighten one man and leave another wondering whether he can still catch the ball game.

There was the occasional wit and insight. But like it was said, I think she ran afoul of a modmin.

That, and almost everyone would see her post in any thread and immediately turn it into BIE/EIP, whether or not that was the topic.

This is not her website. If she wanted to use this website to make money, she could have purchased advertising from Drew.

Heh. That's rich... Given how popular and filled with posts (and ad-revenue-generating views!) every thread she was in inevitably became, he should've been paying her to post here! Nevermind the extra $5 a month that she was guaranteed to bring him with her TF sponsorship...

I guess everyone with a link to their Amazon wishlist or any business-related website in their profile should be banned as well?

I'm not even arguing whether she should be here or not. I was just stating what I thought of her intentions. You trolled me with Drew and it worked. 5/10 because I'm not mad, but you definitely baited me into an argument I wasn't making.

I don't troll, so shove the juvenile accusations... I was just pointing out the absurdity of your argument against her... Wanting to make money is not necessarily evil or bad... She wasn't scamming anyone... She wasn't robbing poor old people of their life savings... She contributed usefully to this site, and made a positive contribution; she also hoped a few people might buy her shiat and maybe sign up for her website... Where's the farking harm in that? Who do we kick out next? It's not like she was the first or will be the last to try to make a buck by posting here... She wasn't spamming links to her site every post or anything... She was just posting the same way thousands of others post all the damn time... The simple fact is she was singled out for unfair treatment by the modmins... That's all there is to it...
