Nice.

That link takes me to a video about a young girl being shot by a Syrian sniper.

I think I would have peed in my pants and flailed around no the floor while crying, "please don't hurt me." This guy's reaction is impressive to me.

2012-09-04 12:18:58 PM
He's a better shot than most cops, that's for sure.

2012-09-04 12:31:55 PM
I wont be the least bit surprised if they reveal this guy is ex-military possibly even special forces/ranger/green beret whatever. He knew how to use his weapon, he fired from cover and was cool as a cucumber. Either he had his adrenal glands removed or he trained for this sort of thing.

There are still "internet cafes"?

I'm not entirely sure I understand why an internet cafe had an armed guard in the first place.

Three Crooked Squirrels: There are still "internet cafes"?

My question is: They have armed guards at these places? I thought they were mainly frequented by people with no access/poor young people.

/Great marksmanship by the way!!!

I think we may have just witnessed why.

Damn fine shot, dude. Keeping my daughter's college town safe, one crawling perp at a time.

I think they are actually gambling establishments of some sort that call themselves "internet cafes" for legal reasons. I don't know that for a fact, though. Maybe some Floridians can clue us in.

So now it's okay for private citizens to be armed?

Is there really a lot of money in Internet Cafes?

And, why ARE there Internet Cafes anymore, anyway? Even hobos use the computers at the library for free.

Well, not certain where this story takes place (video won't load for me) but in some countries internet cafes exist because people can't afford to purchase computers, or don't need them often enough to warrant purchasing one. So you stop in and pay a small fee to check your email or send pictures to a family member.

My university had a lot of students who came from India, and they used the library for this purpose - for all their casual internet usage. When they did all they wanted to do, they'd just go home.

Correct - online sweepstakes rooms, etc.

And yes, it has been OK for private citizens to be armed since late 1787 (That whole pesky little second amendment thing)

More and more similar stories are coming out where someone is breaking in and get shot by a regular ol' law abiding citizen..

How DARE these people stand up to these thugs.

How DARE the damn media reports on it.

Is this some meme I'm unaware of? Seems like an awful lot of shootouts in internet cafes in the past year -- like more shootouts than there are internet cafes to have shootouts in.

This guy obviously knows the rules for gunfighting.

If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
If you're not loading, you should be moving.
If you're not moving, you're dead.

Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, because it'll be empty.

And others, but those are the pertinent ones.

It's not a place to browse Fark. It's a gambling house where people go to play video poker. It's called an internet cafe to exploit a loophole in the law.

2012-09-04 01:50:31 PM
That was crude. I would have disarmed them with my charm and good looks.

2012-09-04 01:50:44 PM
Amazed at the level of training and reaction from the security guard. Balls of steel doesn't cover it. Balls of titanium?

2012-09-04 01:50:51 PM
In these "internet cafes" you can buy "phone or internet time cards" that can be used for calling places, browsing the internet, or playing video poker games. If you win at the games then you can cash out the credits on your card.

In other words, it's just a way to run a gambling establishment via loopholes in the local law. In this case, the "internet cafe" has a lot of cash on hand usually.

The idea of three-armed punks running around is frightening. This is why we need to increase funding to the EPA.

What's with robbing internet cafes? There was a story on here (with vid) of some thugs trying to rob a ic and some old guy pulled his piece and shot at them, I was really expecting a very old repeat.

If the one near my house is anything to go by, the are mostly used for online gambling by people so poor they can't afford a PC/internet access at home.

For those asking, those aren't "Internet Cafe's" like you think.

No one is playing WoW.

They are online video poker casinos, and they tend to have quite a bit of cash on hand, because the have "cash prizes" and things like flat screen TVs and other electronics as prizes.

They are called internet cafes because legally, they can't be called Casinos.

They just came to NC, so I've been reading about them lately.

Calmamity: So now it's okay for private citizens to be armed?

In Florida? Yep, they've had "shall issue" concealed carry licenses since 1987. As for "it's okay"...yep. The number of firearms carried legally by private citizens year after year without shooting anyone at all is staggering! :o

CNN last week realized what a lot of FARKers still can't understand, that putting people on "ignore" doesn't stop them from voting.

/hopefully, their newfound "conservative bias" is too little, too late
//two months left, though, more than enough time to find a way to hook "citizens defending themselves with guns" to "Obama will save us from evil conservative gun-grabbers."

2012-09-04 01:59:35 PM
If everyone there had guns, this never would have happened.

2012-09-04 02:00:09 PM
Dude, that happened from almost a month ago. CNN is getting faster at getting the news.
