The revolution will be televised?

2003-11-22 09:02:03 AM
Wintermute: Since they have been vowing to overthrow and the opposition leader is calling it a "bloodless revolution," the word can apply. This article doesn't have all the information about what has been going on for weeks.

2003-11-22 09:02:10 AM

The South shall rise again, I tell you!

2003-11-22 09:17:03 AM
It is a revolution. Schevardnadze had to be manhandled from parliament by his people - the opposition are in charge of the building and the streets outside. So far the military are either doing nothing or joining in. I'm praying it stays that way.

There's some info here that I put together after I moved away in '99. I've got a lot of friends there I hope are OK.

BBC World are covering live.

2003-11-22 09:19:09 AM
Liked it the first time when it was called Gil Scott Heron.

2003-11-22 09:21:24 AM

2003-11-22 09:21:54 AM
You've got it all wrong. It's just England fans up to thier usual 'celebrations' after beating Australia...

Seriously though, this coup has been a long time coming.. I hope they pull it off... Shevardnadze is a farking tool

2003-11-22 09:22:38 AM

2003-11-22 09:23:22 AM

2003-11-22 09:23:46 AM
Might be a good opportunity to try out the new Smith and Wesson .50 caliber. It's Smith-tastic!

2003-11-22 09:25:33 AM
Shevardnadze has said he wants to pursue talks with opposition leaders, who have led protests since November 2 when they accused the authorities of stealing a parliamentary poll.

I guess these authorities don't have a supreme court that will just whitewash their election theft. What a bunch of rookies.

2003-11-22 09:25:49 AM
pretty much he fixed the elections....put his party in control, and the opposition party who is closely aligned with him came in second place in the voting.

2003-11-22 09:27:15 AM
I really, really, really hope the US stays out of this one.

Revolution? In Russia? You gotta be shiatting me.

2003-11-22 09:31:34 AM
oro

Pretty much what untitled said.

International observers have been screaming about spectacular irregularities. People in opposition area's weren't allowed to vote and as a last ditch attempt, he tried to get Russia involved, but since he's been a farking prick towards the Russians (see harbouring terrorists in the Pyatinski gorge) they pretty much told him to fark off...
