(Today)   Doctor Who is setting a fashion trend. Subby guesses this means it's now okay to go out in public wearing his Technicolor Dreamcoat, 12-foot-long scarf, and sweater with little question marks all over it   (thelook.today.com) divider line 125

Dr. Whoof: limeyfellow: mekkab: PanicMan: I'm so glad the BBC is actually targeting the American market. BBC America really has some great shows.

Word up. My wife really likes Dr. Who.

Now if only BBC America stop cutting out scenes all over the place to make room for commercials things will be better.

This is why I prefer to watch it on Netflix....however, it did get me watching an episode of Copper, which I hadn't heard of before. It was actually fairly good...may have to start watching it.

I seem to recall from history class Teddy Roosevelt being NYC police commissioner and introducing police uniforms.

Other than that, Copper is a pretty good show. Lots of violence for a British show.

Useless Destruction of Exergy: BurnShrike: sno man: quatchi: Doctor Who?
You'ld get more bites with "Dr. Who?" I think.
Mr. Who, PhD
/or is that Mr. Whom?
Or should he be
Mr. Who, Sc.D.?
After all, some people hold the Sc.D. to be higher than the Ph.D.

In the real world, two doctors have been to the Moon. The Sc.D. got there before the Ph.D.

Doctor Jones and the Doctor repeatedly watched the Sc.D., according to what they told Billy Shipton.

Also, the next doctor should be black - Paterson Joseph, to be exact. The Johnson!

Martha Jones wound up in London, working with the Fifth Doctor as an assistant District Attorney (or Crown Prosecutor... whatever)

I have a coworker who is precisely the sort of guy who, when he was younger, probably gleefully beat up nerds and
would have nothing to do with anything remotely geeky (he's a good guy, though, just a typical latin 'macho man').

He happened to be walking by my desk while I was watching an early Martha episode, and he stopped dead in
his track and professed his admiration for her, and actually watched a few of her eps.

Such is the power of Dr. Jones.

If only they had done something decent with her character instead of making her pine away for time lord cock in every single scene she was in.

"Doctor, we're in 1969 because of a weeping angel! I surely do wish you would penetrate me while the opening credits are playing!"

Speaking of light-skinned black chicks on that show, I didn't initially recognise Naomi Ryan as Amy's Dalek make-up lady. She was great on Mile High.

///so happy I get BBCA in HD now

Yeah, Farking Comcast finally added BBCA HD to the line-up for my area just before the new Who season started. That probably helped me biatch a bit less about BBCA's presentation of the show, since it isn't crammed into the shiatty little SD windowbox anymore.

/got The Hub in HD at the same time, which means HD Ponies Super Hero Squad for the new season.

She didn't call him "Doctor".
She was armed. Always armed.
She made explosives in her spare time.
She was cute, and had a really nice backside.
She ended up with The Doctor by whipping up a time vortex on her own.
She eventually became either a Time Agent, Timelady, or something equally impressive.
She fought back against most enemies. Daleks, Cybermen... It didn't matter. Ace was fierce.
She was just plain cool.

No one else could kill Cybermen by half-heartedly flinging a gold coin in their direction.

thespindrifter: stevetherobot: So bow ties are cool?

I take it you haven't been inside a JC Penneys lately. Suspenders, bow ties (clip-on and real), skinny pants, odd plaid, the whole nine yards. It's surreal.

I was a "Whovian" waaay before that shiat was cool:

Because People in power are Stupid: BurnShrike: I know the original show was known for its low-budget cheezy costumes, but that Dalek attempt is really phoning it in.

I think his parents are hiding the tinfoil.

Oswin or Clara or whatever Coleman's character's name will be is looking like she is going to be very Ace-like.

No, not a Time Agent or Time Lady (at least not for very long, anyway). Ace became a philanthropist. She founded an organisation called A Charitable Earth with which she has raised millions of pounds. (Revealed in the epilogue of The Sarah Jane Adventures episode, "Death of the Doctor" part 2.

Ace beat the hell out of a Dalek. Who else could do that? Just took a "supercharged" aluminium baseball bat, and kicked its ass. And she did it in Ian Chesterton's science classroom that he had vacated only a couple of days earlier. That is seriously farked up -- enough to drive a Dalek into shell shock. Hummmm, if only there were a place where Daleks with post-traumatic stress disorder from having their asses handed to them by a teenage girl could go. If only. Oh, but wait, there was.

She was a sexual woman at the peak of ripeness. Unlike her predecessors who were portrayed as virginal or were mature women like Barbara, Ace was down for a shag. She lost her cherry to Sabalom Glitz, and distracted that Red Army soldier by luring him away with her feminine wiles (reassuring the Doctor, "I'm not a little girl, Professor.")

I really wished that Moffat had included a moment in "A Good Man Goes to War" in which a blast takes out some monks or marines and, upon re-winding and watching frame by frame, one would have seen that the explosion was preceded by the appearance of a silver bottle with a timer fuse for a stopper. Aldred need not have been cast or shown. Just the nitro-9 bottle would have incorporated her into the Doctor's militia.

I don't get BBC America, so I'm getting episodes from Amazon Video on Demand. No commercials and, I assume, no cuts.

I'm currently knitting the second scarf now. It'll be about twenty one feet when finished. Certainly keeps you warm in winter!

My sister knitted me a 15 foot wool scarf back in the 80's. Simple gray wool. I love that thing.

As I live in Hawaii, I lent it to my sister-in-law in Kansas. I got the current scarf on promise to my wife it's part of a Halloween costume. She new it was a bullshiat line, but let me get it anyway.
