Don't you feel a little stupid making a monstrosity like that when there are children like this in the world?

There is nothing we can do about that, so, we choose to live our lives the way we do.

I love the fact that a country like America exists, where a monstrosity like that can feel at home. Never apologize for being awesome! This burger has no connection to Africa's woes and I shall not be made to feel guilty for nothing...

Yes and no... the average American's life in general is an affront to the fact of that picture. While a 1-ton hamburger is an extreme example of it, it is just a one time event, vs. how we over consume in general every day vs the vast majority of the people on earth. And like 99.99% of us, you and I on a daily basis block that out of your mind.

/just sayin
//maybe you don't and you are right now in Africa helping out, if so, kudo's to you.
///Realizes that it is most likely a "troll" post, but, my point still stands since you do know people who like to state things like that about stupid promotional stunts like this.

Well obviously we can't go through our lives in a constant state of depression because there are always starving people elsewhere while we enjoy lives of comfort. However there is a point to be made here; we don't have to be ostentatious arrogant assholes in our lives of comfort. This cheeseburger arguably crosses that line.

Phatteh: "A Minnesota casino has cooked up a world-record bacon cheeseburger that's 10 feet (three meters) in diameter and weighs more than a ton.
... It tipped the scales at 2,014 pounds (914 kilograms)."

So... it wasnt more than a ton.

Yes, it was. A ton is 2,000 pounds. 2,014 is more than 2,000.

He's probably thinking a metric ton, 1000 kg.

Black Bear's burger included 60 pounds (27 kilograms) of bacon, 50 pounds (23 kilograms) of lettuce, 50 pounds (23 kilograms) of sliced onions, 40 pounds (18 kilograms) of pickles and 40 pounds (18 kilograms) of cheese.

As well as [CLASSIFIED] pounds of ground beef and [REDACTED] pounds of specially baked bun.

The "starving children in Africa" gambit. Oh, ffs, this has nothing to do with that. The craptastic situations in Africa (or any other places mired in similar situations) are due primarily to local or regional conditions; climate, resources, culture, and the like. Handing over that monster meat thing. or the stuff that went into it, or the time, effort and resources that went into it, to the unfortunates half a world away would have no effect on their long-term situation. Generously sharing the surplus wealth of our overly-affluent society will not improve their lot; it will only enable them to continue to exist as they do now. Those that give will assuage their "guilt" and continue to consume, while those that receive will consume and make no effort to improve their situation. Whether this is due to genetics or memetics is open to endless debate that occupies time and changes nothing.

Modern Western culture tries stuff and advances, for better or worse, because it can.

Archaic tribal culture tries to hold on to traditional ways, for better or worse, because it can.

For now.

you kidding, it's fox news, according to them, these kids are just lazy welfare abusers who should be pulling themselves up from their bootstraps. They would invite those poor welfare abusers out and eat the whole burger in front of them just to "inspire" them to get a job

People in Africa are starving because they (as a society) are too stupid and/or corrupt to feed themselves. Look at different societies throughout world history and what they have accomplished. Look at the incredible architecture found in other societies and then look at the mud huts in Africa. Even with decades of assistance from the rest of the world, Africa is still a shiathole. That will never change as long as there are still Africans there.

Beautiful...

The problem with the world today is NOT the lack of food.. we actually make/have enough food to probably feed 15 billion people easily.. the PROBLEM is and always will be the DISTRIBUTION of food.

Well I for one say that once it is too big to pickup with your hands and take bites out of with your mouth its just a stack of bread and meat and not a hamburger.

If we ground up the starving children into burger meat, we could solve two problems at once. Just sayin'
