It's kind of like starting with a I-AA opponent though. Not that that's ever failed, has it Pitt? :P

I can buy the Ravens beating the Eagles. Going all the way this year, however, is another matter.

The Baltimore Ravens, who were one good play and one good kick away from the Super last year, losing to the Patriots 23-20 in the AFC Championship game. Billy Cundiff missed a 32 yard field goal with 11 second on the clock, ruining Flacco outplaying Tom Brady

Is it just me, or has everyone forgot about that Lee Evans drop? I honestly don't even remember that 32 yard kick at the end of that game, but I still vividly remember the Evans play.

was that not the game with Tom Brady saying "i flat out sucked today"?

i do remember watching the game and how anticlimactic cundiff's miss was. I mean, not as a Patriot hater or Raven fan, just a football fan, to be resigned to "wow, great game, Ravens have a chip shot, and will advance.." to OH MY GOD HOW COULD HE MISS THAT???!?!?!!!?!?!?!?

Makes sense to me. $500 on Ravens.

I'm all in on them anyway, got Ray Rice in all my leagues

They won't. The Super Bowl is next year and they already didn't win the one this year.

I hope this trend holds for a while, as I figure there's a good chance that the Redskins will be the Eagles home opener soon enough, being in division and such as. Sure it's meaningless but the burgundy & gold need all the help they can get.

Ravens aren't gonna win the Superbowl though, defense is too old. I can see them squeaking the AFC North.

Game would be better with Suggs playing, especially if it turns out the replacement refs are keeping their flags in their pockets.

I would argue against. Reid is a top-tier coach with two glaring flaws: Challenges/Time Outs. If he could find someone to cover him there, he could have a shot again with the right team. Historically, he/McNabb had bad luck of running into the Bucs when they peaked, the Panthers during the ultra-roids year, and the Patriots actively during spygate.

Vick is simply not a QB that wins you a Superbowl. He can play well enough to make the playoffs, keep both jobs, but no more. I like Foles, but probably not the answer. Then again, Andy made Kevin Kolb look good enough for big money.

You've been watching ESPN, I see, and not paying attention to things like facts and data. If you take off Ray Lewis and Ed Reed -- who are, even late in their careers, upgrades over most anyone else in the league -- then the Ravens have the youngest D in the NFL. And most people rank their (very young) secondary as the very best.

The Suggs injury is huge, losing Jarrett Johnson will probably hurt a lot more than anyone is saying, and we really need Kruger (Suggs' replacement at not-OLB-but-DE) to start pressuring QBs and for Upshaw to get his ass in gear and replace Johnson on edge-setting and TE covering...so there are reasons why the D might have issues, but none of them are age.

I truly hate this time of year, when every assclown on the planet has some sort of prediction based on whether or not his right testicle hung lower that day, or not. Preseason football columnists need jobs, sure, but why do you bother me with all this tripe? Here in New Orleans they're simultaneously explaining how "bountygate" will destroy and divinely will this team to history's first host of their own Super Bowl.

Just STFU and let's see how everything shakes out. Morans.

It should sound strangely familiar. I say it every year, I'm right more often than not, and I'm a perfect 100% on my prediction that the Ravens will not win the Super Bowl. You could make bank on me in the long term.

So, are we on for this year? I'll take a Lambert jersey once we set the terms.

What you should really be concerned about is how the Steelers are going to need a lot of luck to even finish 3rd in the North this year -- Cincinnati is improving, you guys aren't. PIT's going to need lots of help to even hope for a Wild Card the way they look right now. Meanwhile, Baltimore is a consensus playoff team and frequent division, and sometimes conference, champ.

You're dismissing Pittsburgh and hyping Baltimore so strongly? I love it. I'll have to remind you of this post in December when the Ratbirds are sucking hind tit.

When was the last time that hind tit in that division wasnt being sucked by either Cleveland or Cincinnati?

Yes, the team that beat you twice last year and went to the AFC Championship game is going to be sucking "hind tit" behind CLE, CIN, and the Steelers...who have an old, very-injured-already defense, a patchwork turnstile O-line, no quality RBs, your only dynamic WR doesn't want to be there, your clumsy QB -- if he can keep his dick in his pants -- has lost his safety branket, and you're paying Todd Effing Haley to make decisions.

Honestly, it's not the Ravens you need to worry about this year. That's like worrying about the sun rising. You need to worry about CIN taking your Wild Card spot.

I think there's a decent chance that the NFC East title will come down to Eagles @ Giants in week 17.

As I said, I'll remind you of this come December.
