I'd rather drive a Cobra kit car, than stare at a non-functional Aston.

Yes. When I was 13. I built an ATV instead, and decided I could live quite happily without an AM kit car.

If it was actually driveable, I'd rather have the Aston. I see Cobra kit cars all the time around this area and my neighbor has one.

He'd crap himself if I pulled that Aston into my driveway.

I'd settle for one of these:

It's already on the wife's anniversary present list. I know it's got an extra "U" in the name, but what're ya gonna do with a limited budget.

I was expecting a lot more random car pedantry.

Not sure wether to be disapointed or pleasantly surprised.

So undrivable like the regular Aston-Martins?

I drove a particularly good Cobra kit once, and had a blast. Sure, it wasn't the real thing, but it was pure sports car. Uncomfortable as hell, but all the road's feedback went straight to my ass. It smelled awful. Sounded like the hell had split open the tarmac.

I'm not even a fan/student of cars (lifelong motorcycle commuter) but I would drive that kit anywhere you pointed me. I think I have a chubby just visiting the memory of that day.

Eh, if I had a spare shed and a few extra thousand lying around, I'd probably go for a Caterham Super 7.

Whom ever put white letter tires on that car should be kicked in the shins.

I drove one painted light blue w/ orange around the grill opening. It had a Ford four cylinder with a grumbly idle. What an amazing amount of fun. The owner said it was very reliable because it had enough power to break traction, but not enough to break parts. There was a very direct and connected feeling from the steering wheel, the brakes and the shifter that made me want to drive it more and more. What a wonderful and enjoyable way to spend time.

Yeah, IIRC the engine they spec is basically the Aluminum 4-cylinder out of the Focus, but cammed up and bored out for MOAR POWAR!!!. Cosworth does their tuning, I think.

But yeah, if I had the time, the right tools, and a garage in which to build the thing, I think I'd have a hell of a time putting it together. Driving it would just be gravy.

I would punch a baby of the owner's choice to get a ride in that.
