I thought you had to be playing against an MLB team for it to be an MLB AB....

If he goes yard again today, the wits at Sports Center will begin calling him Jurricksen Gofar.

... because, oh yeah, a HBP doesn't count as an at-bat.

Jurickson Profar? Sounds like a character in a Larry Niven novel or something.

Profar finally got called up? They've been buzzing about this kid in Dallas for a couple of years now. He was considered untouchable in every trade, and practically the second coming. Great start. I hope it holds up.

I was going to say "isn't he on the Jedi Council?"

Yeah, they wouldn't give him up for Greinke so Brewers traded him to the Angels.

Last guy to hit a rookie first at-bat home run for the franchise (when it was still the Senators)? John Kennedy, 1962.

Good old JFK, he'd hit on anything.

He's just like a kid out there...

Bad: Having parents that name you Jurickson.

Then again, all the names on the list of youngest to hit HRs in first at-bat sound fake:

Whitey Lockman
Jurickson Profar
Ted Tappe

Eh, it was against the Tribe. He probably faced better pitching in rookie ball high school pony league.

Think about one thing you were doing in 2005.

Got it?

Whatever it was, in 2005 Profar was on Curacao's little league team.

I don't think he's playing today. He's not in the starting lineup, at least.

However, yesterday, that was AWESOME. And he didn't get that HR by just a little bit, either. It went waaaaay back.

Thanks for that. Jerk.

"I guess it's a pretty big thing," a smiling Profar said, his hair and neck covered in shaving cream from a celebratory "pie" administered by teammate Elvis Andrus."

uh huh...
