Wendys did not invent the frostie, wikipedia is wrong. I had it in1966 at the May co. in downtown Cleveland near terminal tower. At the time there was no restaurant named Wendys until a few years later. Took the rapid transit from the West side.

you all make me sick. If you want a think milkshake use more ice cream. Who freaking adds thickener to a milkshake they make at home?

Take a dixie cup of ice cream, put it in a mug, add milk to thin it to your likeing and mash with a spoon till it goes through a straw.

\Fries dipped in milkshake? Talk about taking two beautiful things and turning them into something horrible.

Also, you know how every six months someone says they've found the "secret recipe" for Coke or KFC or something like that? They mix up a batch of it, and it always tastes fine, but never quite like the real thing. It's always missing that certain je ne sais quoi.

The only unitasker allowed in my tiny apartment kitchen is a fire extinguisher.

I also subscribe to Alton Brown's "no unitaskers except the fire extinguisher" theory. But, last summer, my mom was kind enough to buy me a Cuisinart 1.5 quart ice cream maker. I think it was about $30. I was skeptical, but I love thething now. If you're a dessert freak like I am, consider getting one - it's not a lot of money and you'll have fun with it. Homemade ice cream invariably impresses people.


If you want to take up even less space and already have a Kitchenaid mixer, you can always get the ice cream maker attachment for the mixer. It's just the bowl that you stick in the freezer and a paddle attachment for the mixer, so no extra appliance to find cabinet space for.

I am a very slow learner. Or rather I learn things and then forget. Example: I went to Wendy's for lunch one day last week. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. My god it was revolting. Tough, overcooked, and slathered in some bizarre sauce that tasted horrible. And the bun was stale and had a weird taste to it.

I don't know how you can screw up a grilled chicken sandwich, but I walked out of there literally smacking myself upside the head. "You knew better, and you went anyway. Moron."

(The Frostys are always good though.)

Guar gum = fake ice cream. There is very little real in the chemical concoction commonly known as a Frosty. Today's Frosty is not what Dave Thomas invented. It's garbage.
