Here's the SPEED link, with a little more info:

ALMS, Grand-Am to merge

Oh, HELL YES!!! Been to 13 of the 24Hr races, but haven't been back since 2007... the prospect of getting the "real" endurance cars in the race like Audi, Peugeot and so forth will definitely get me back down there though.

The only thing I don't like is that my track hosts events by both series. Looks like we're losing one. Same thing happened with the reunification of indycar, great news, but Laguna Seca got screwed out of a scheduled race.

Happy about this. I like the ALMS GT class over Rolex, but the coverage the last few years has made it hard to follow.

Speed Channel started leg-humping Grand-Am (NASCAR affiliation with Grand-Am/Speed Channel) and started throwing ALMS to the curb coverage-wise. Then came the ESPN3 live coverage of ALMS. I just hope that when the two merge that Speed Channel carries the full Daytona/Sebring/LeMans races again.

The history of the Daytona 24 got ruined by the France family, I hope this fixes it.

I never watched Grand Am, as I knew it would suck worse than NASCAR. ALMS was always the superior series and I hate SPEEDTV for screwing ALMS just to promote GrandSuck. Perhaps this is a step in the right direction
