I just saw Wilson Phillips at the Minnesota State Fair on Friday. I hadn't realize they still existed.

didn't want to think clear,
didn't analyze what they're doing there...

Electrify: Wilson Philips is from the 80s submitter.

Oh, really? From Wikipedia (So you know it's true!)

Wilson Phillips released their debut album, Wilson Phillips, in 1990. Their debut single, "Hold On," hit #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart on June 9, 1990, bumping Madonna's "Vogue" off the top spot. The single was also #1 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary and became a worldwide hit, peaking at #2 in Australia, #6 in the UK, #7 in Ireland, #10 in Sweden, and at #15 in the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. The single also won Wilson Phillips the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year for 1990.

I had more of an issue with them calling Carnie Wilson the lead singer - pretty much everything was 3-part harmony. Best singer maybe. Lead, not so much.

Wikipedia says their debut album was released in 1990. If it's on the internet, it has to be true.

The Barenaked Ladies are triple platinum, are you, submitter? And maybe BNL have two Billboard Awards to your zero.

You know what, maybe we all need some space to pull the knife out of the back of the most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the 90s, you selfish, jaded ass!

Actually naming a song about a bunch if non ironic things, "ironic" fits the definition of irony very well.

Canada has Rush and Arcade Fire but that's about it, all the other Canadian bands that made it here pretty much suck. They've already unleashed the suck that is Bieber, Nickelback, Drake, and Celine Dion.

/Canadian Farkers, enlighten me on the good artists from your fine nation.

Sloan - Underwhelmed

Blue Rodeo - Hasn't Hit Me Yet

The Tragically Hip - Last American Exit

Headstones - Cubically Contained

Rheostatics - Claire

The Pursuit of Happiness - I'm an Adult Now

54-40 - Baby Ran

Spirit of the West - Political

Teenage Head - Let's Shake

Northern Pikes - Girl with a Problem

The Demics - New York City

The Lowest Of The Low - Salesmen, Cheats And Liars

Treble Charger - American Psycho

Doughboys - Shine

Martha and the Muffins - Echo Beach

Doug & the Slugs - Too Bad

And one of my all time favourites:

Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane

The late 80's and 1990's was a really good time for Canadian bands thanks in part to CanCon rules coupled with the launch of MuchMusic (back when they actually played music videos).

Yeah, man! I still listen to the Headstones, Killjoys, Change of Heart and Sloan all the time. The 90s were excellent for Canadian alternative rock and pop music.

Indeed.

Jeff Healey - See the Light

Big Sugar - Ride Like Hell

The Smalls - Payload

D.O.A. - I Am Canadian

And I would add to your Can-con musts the early 2000s Toronto scene...

Broken Social Scene - Cause=Time

Are you trying to tell me she did NOT sing like a virgin in the 1980's??? Or was that Anne Earhart on her world tour.......
