CavalierEternal: Folks, it's been a pleasure doing these threads over the past eight weeks. These next ten months are going to SUCK.

We'll be back with the episode nine discussion thread...next July.

F*ck.

10 months? fark ME! This isn't a mid-season break...it's a new season starting in 10 months.

I'm still going with my Walt gets away with a new identity but Jesse gets pinched and Walt comes back to bust him out of jail theory

It's been in at least half the episodes this season in various shots. It was especially pronounced last episode.

I'll have one in a minute. I had to go take a Hank.

I still can't believe Walt is "out". How does he leave all those contacts high and dry without them getting pissed? The czech guys, the phoenix crew, they all need a cut. And lydia....And i really don't see walt letting someone else take over his cook completely.

Or maybe Walt is running from Hank and the DEA when what's left of the cartel/phoenix crew show up and he needs protection.

Yeah, I had to do some work during the episode so I didn't catch all of it. I'm going to watch it again at 11:30.

I don't think he is out. I think he is having somebody launder the money

Todd has notes on how to make it. He can take over production.

So did Gale give Walt that book at some point, or was it a piece of evidence? I don't recall when it initially came into play.

I have to say, if we have to wait 10 months so be it. I'd rather Gilligan had the extra time to do it right. Every episode this season has been like a finely crafted work of art.

Wasnt that evidence from the Gale murder ?

Was Walt's another copy?

res_nihil: So did Gale give Walt that book at some point, or was it a piece of evidence? I don't recall when it initially came into play.

It was a gift from Gale that Walt stupidly kept around.

I deleted the episode, but the writing essentially said:

To the other W.W, thanks for being a great teacher.

Dammit, Breaking Bad, you need to be more clever then this! You're telling me Walt doesn't immediately destoy everything associated with Gale as soon as he's killed? Check that, you're telling me Walt keeps any personal items he recieved during his illegal meth cooks in his own home? In plain site? For anyone to see? That's BS, and I don't even think it's necessary, Hank's a smart guy, he's just blinded by what's directly in front of him. Walt should have got a little drunk, made some type of off-hand comment (Like he did in season 4), and we should of had yet another montage with Hank recalling the entire case, and everthing that Walt said, and all the little things that ties Walt to everything (Like the ventilators 'stolen' from Walt's classroom in season 1). Hank could of easily pieced everything together, to get really really really suspicious. Finding the book while on the can? That's bush-league.

My thinking is if Saul has a guy who can make him disappear, he can disappear from the Phoenix guys and the DEA.

I don't think so. I re watched seasons 3 and 4 a few weeks ago and Gale never gave him the book onscreen.

I believe there was a different piece of evidence in Gail's apartment -- probably his meth cooking notebook that he used to write down Walt's method -- that had the W.W. initials in it. Hank now knows that Walt was working with Gail to cook meth. I've always wondered what Hank would do if he figured it out. Lots and lots of negatives for him professionally and personally to arrest Walt.

Next 10 months are gonna suck. At least football will occupy my Sundays now.

Walter may be able to play off the G.B. initials in the book if Hank brings it up. He could say Gretchen gave it to him years ago. Her married name is Schwartz, but I don't think we've ever been told what her last name is.

Wait ... The other Whitman quote was in his lab book? The Whitman book is unique & has a unknown-to-us dedication to him. He unpacked it when he moved home.

I dunno, it's pretty clear that Walt like to keep seemingly harmless mementos (the hat, the watch, the book) around.

i'm going with my walt's former international drug smuggling partners find out he's under investigation & now walt and his family are the loose ends theory.

Walt will slow Hank down by telling him the book is from some other G. B., and the reason he knew the W. W. connection in Gale's notebook was because he had this book

The biggest plot hole of the episode is actually why did hank use the master bathroom and not the guest bathroom. Is there only one in the house> You're telling me every time Jr. takes a dump he has to go through mom and dad's room?

No screen capture, but it was along the lines of: "To my other W.W. - G.B"

Hank put the initials together with Gale Boetticher and Walt from the first time he was investigating Gale's death since Gale's notebooks had a tribute to W.W. written in them.

2012-09-02 11:17:46 PM
I love this show's sense of irony. Hank found out right after Walt finally came to his senses and decided to get out.

I still say Jesse is gonna wind up farking Skylar. The subtle exchanges between them in the car wash were when they got the tank of methylene were just too strong. I'm probably wrong, but something is up with that.

Well Lydia would turn on Walt in a heartbeat so that is possible.

Also very plausible. How weird would it be if Lydia ended up last crook standing

Hank won't tell walt he found the book. hank will take it and match the handwriting.

2012-09-02 11:19:02 PM
My prediction: Walt does the unthinkable and turns Jesse against him, Hank gets proof that Walt is behind it all and Walt has to go into hiding. Hank and Jesse join forces to capture Walt and Jesse starts producing Walt's meth in order to draw him out, and that is what we saw in the begining of the season was Walt coming to apease his ego by taking out Jesse who is making his cook. That is how Walt's biggest weakness, his pride, takes him down.
