Yeah, it just happened to flow right by all those trees and shrubs that were already there. I'm sure this is the first time water ever flowed from that rock.

Give the guy a break. Free-flowing water can be a scarce commodity in some places.

Unless he hit the local water mains when drilling for oil and he's just mad at what he found.

But given how much water is flowing there, there's a lot fewer trees, shrubs, grass, biker bars, than I would have expected. Maybe it's seasonal.

/My guess is it's fracking waste water

Shoot video up the hill. See what's on the other side. A reservoir? The swamps Saddam had drained? City septic field?

I'm going to guess that it's an intermittent spring. Though the video quality isn't spectacular, you can see clearly enough that the runoff follows cut channels, so this is not a new or recent spring. But if it was a constant spring, I think they're be less cause to, er, gush about it. The specific geology of intermittent springs is still not fully understood, so it's understandable that they may seem remarkable and even mystical to many people. The prevailing theory is that they are caused by a cyclical siphon effect in narrow tubes leading from partially aerated caves with running water. This model is consistent with the karst geology that underlies much of the Mideast.
