I know I should support the conference during non-conference play but Penn St. losing brought a smile to my face as will watching Mich get clobbered later tonight. Wisconsin's scare was also amusing but at least we (tOSU) took care of our cupcake.

This. I attempted a CSNY "Ohio" style headline once and it was redlit (justifiably too). Props to subby, and a message to everyone who hasn't already: do yourself a favor and look up the song, demonstrating (one of) the proper way to do a protest song.

Yeah, I doubt playing 3 quarters will get them by Cal, let alone Wisconsin...and I think Urban Meyer found out that Braxton Miller is way more like Tebow than he initially thought...at the very least, Devin Smith saved at least one of his Tebow-like missiles with that catch...

I am dissatisfied with the punishment meted out. This was not an NCAA matter, it was a criminal matter which has nothing to do with the play on the football field. All the people who were the perpetrators are gone. I am not a big fan of this institutional guilt.

I wouldn't piss on any of the idiots that comprise PSU football's culture if they were immolated. How have the sanctions changed anything? 97,000 still showed up. Many still supported Paterno. Banner plane was flown overhead indicting the BoT.

Oh, and PSU lost. NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Here's a hint: when overvaluing football is the very reason your institutions' leaders covered up child rape the solution is to make football LESS important. Instead the NCAA merely wounded the culture of Nittany Lion football and now, naturally, the snarling mongoloids have circled the wagons and doubled down on their devotion to the team.

The institution decided to do nothing about a child rapist on their staff because they were afraid it would hurt the football program. They put a goddamn game ahead of the safety and well being of kids who couldn't protect themselves.

There are appropriated remedies being meted out through the criminal and civil justice system. NCAA punishment is not serving much purpose in this matter.

By comparison, the Penn State punishment is a slap on the wrist. SMU got a three year death penalty just because players took money from boosters.

Yet, you're mad that a program that covered for a sexual predator for more than a decade might lose a few games. Nice priorities you've got.

But how long can they circle the wagons? A few more crushing defeats like today should reduce future crowds.

I see the NCAA sanctions as a shotgun blast to the gut. A slow painful death.

I would want justice against the perpetrators, and I would want the justice system to use the mechanisms available to make the victims whole.

Who is getting punished by the NCAA sanctions? The Penn State students, and not because their football team is a t a competitive disadvantage. I am unhappy with how this impacts the rest of the
Penn State community. The people who should be punished severely are the public officials in the AG office who subverted justice, up to and including the current PA governor.

True. They deserve to all be dragged in the mud.

But USC and Ohio State went through similar harsh punishments for things that are relatively tame compared to what happened at Penn State. So it would've been completely idiotic for the NCAA to go easy on Penn State after being hardasses with schools like USC and Ohio State.

And after watching a news clip on TV of all the Penn State fans going "Wahhh...the NCAA was so unfair to us", my sympathy for them completely evaporated and made their loss to Ohio all the more joyful for me to watch.
