And in about a week expect:

"BUT IT WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF FLIPPER BABIES!"

/seriously, there are enough flipper-babies in Europe to have their own activist groups akin to Deaf Power orgs here and the drug-maker expected the "OK, yes, there were a few flipper babies" to be enough without handing pretty much lifetime pensions to aforementioned flipper-babies?
//because that's what's generally happened to the successors of OTHER companies that had cases of thalidomide-related failidomide

It's beyond my intelligence. I've been trying to figure it out. In my defense, I've had to work all day and I'm on my second glass of wine.

Having seen a bit of the CNN video of the woman's reaction to the apology, I have to agree. Personally, I don't think a corporation can apologize; it's not a person, it's certainly not intelligent.

Figure that the CEO of the corporation was in his 40's when this happened. 50's would probably be closer, but eh...

Add 50 years and you're looking at him being 90-100 years old, long retired. After 50 years, you have an entirely new crew in charge; at which point they can apologize all they like, but they're empty - nobody who actually made the decision to approve, produce, distribute, and market the drug is still in any position of authority.

Wow i know this is fark, but I hope no one ever has to deal with this. Imagine taking a drug, having a baby then be deformed from lack of awareness (some could easily say 'not the mother's fault').

Maybe it's because my baby is due in October and all i want for her is to be healthy.
