I'd say they did OK, considering they had a quarterback who played without his throwing shoulder.

Vandy would be a perennial bowl team if they were in a conference like the Big East.

The SEC needs Vanderbilt to help give it academic legitimacy

South Carolina's offense is about as thin as Kate Moss.

that no call on the pass interference was just good sec officiating. always gotta let the higher ranked team win to protect the sexy matchups

I wish I could defend it somehow, but it was just terrible. I promised I wouldn't complain about officiating for the rest of season because that call may have saved the game. Spurrier had talk with the defensive coordinator after the game about it, too. Terrible time to call an all-out blitz.

Vandy has long been a tough out for many teams, at least for three quarters until lack of bench depth lets opponents pull away in the fourth quarter, but James Franklin is doing a good job. They're still no threat to win the SEC, but they could upset someone else's plans on the way to a respectable bowl game.

Exactly why I'll take the ugly conference win on the road, then take the next two weeks to iron out problems in the offense before the Mizzou game.

Can't really call that a "missed" call. He saw it. It was plain and obvious. It just wasn't called. The reason for it not being called can be debated, but there was nothing to obscure the blatant interference.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

The no-call pissed me off, but we had plenty of opportunities to get our scores in. Vandy has a HELL of a good team this year and this one just got away from them.

I'm watching the Northwestern/Syracuse game doing some scouting for next week. Bring it, wildcats!

Or if the SEC refs stopped helping out every SEC team that plays 'em because it would be embarrassing if a ranked team lost to Vandy.

How SC manages to weasel their way into the preseason top 10 every single year is beyond me. Spurrier must give one hell of a blowjob.

SEC is required to have five of the top 10. So what SEC team are you going to put ahead of them?

You know that this is the first time ever they have been ranked in the top 10 in the preseason, right?

/Of course you do

Also, that PI miss call was horrible, but we didn't have one called on for us when the defender failed to even turn around. Vandy's was just at a much more inopportune time.

I think they did it by stomping ACC winner Clemson and Nebraska with their last 2 games, as well as having a top 5 defense last year. Also this is South Carolina's first time ever in the preseason top 25. But don't let facts get in the way of your irrational hate.

Actually, wouldn't that prove that the SEC is superior to other conferences because even the bottom-of-the-barrel SEC teams can beat ranked teams?

We didn't lose because of that one play. It prevented us from having a chance to win but we made too many mistakes.

Of SC 1st 5 offensive plays 2 were turnovers and one was a penalty. Vanderbilt got zero points. We had our chances.

Exactly! An SEC team beating another SEC team proves that the SEC is the greatest conference in college football.

How do people STILL not get this?!

A Big 10 team beating a Big 10 team just shows how weak the Big 10 is.

The SEC is slipping. An SEC team did lose the National Championship last year

It does in arguments, but wins for the teams that are ranked keeps them ranked, that way when they beat each other they can all say they've only lost to ranked teams. This is important to keep the brand value of the conference up - the SEC must have 6-8 ranked teams at all times. That's their quota.

Pac-12: 2-5
Big 10: 2-5
Big 12: 3-6
ACC: 1-3
Big East: 0-3
SEC: 6-8
Notre Dame (if in any way almost justifiable)
Token non-BCS conference team with good record: 1-3

And there you have every poll!

Actually, you're right about it being legal if it doesn't impede the receiver from making a play on the ball. In the play that I'm referring to, the ball was underthrown and the receiver was prevented from making a play toward the ball because the defender wasn't aware it was coming. It was beyond five yards and appeared to be more than incidental contact.

The same SEC team that is going to blow the doors off a good 80% of the SEC too. It's week one. Let's try to keep things in perspective here.

This is the same SC that lost to a rebuilding FSU in the Peach Bowl back in 2011 when SC had its magical SEC Championship appearance season?
