radiobiz: Krymson Tyde: kf4lar: Krymson Tyde: kf4lar: As a volunteer EMT, I made sure to put the "good" Alabama games on my calender months ago to avoid accidently signing up for a shift. Last night, I got talked into covering just the first hour of a shift for someone with a minor emergency. Wouldn't you know that just as they kicked off, I would get paged.

But I discovered one of the ER nurses is an Alabama fan. Who would have thought there would be another within 100 miles of me in Wyoming?

There you go!

You know, just about a year ago, I was walking through the WalMart in Evanston (just 5 miles from the Utah border along I-80) when I saw a guy walking toward me in a Bama t-shirt. As I passed, I said "Roll Tide." He gave me a "Roll Tide" in return, and not another word passed between us. And no thought given to how another fan wound up 1800 miles from Tuscaloosa.

I know.

It's just like This

Where are you? I live AL on the Gulf Coast now. That commercial may be a slight exaggeration. Slight. I only say Roll Tide when I drop my kid off at school on Fridays.

I'm in NW Georgia right now, but I'm from NE Alabama...a little town called Bridgeport.
I'm going to be cremated, but if my wishes are followed there will be a Roll Tide at the end of my memorial service.

UNC_Samurai: That was an incredibly stupid time to cut to commercial, ABC.

You said stupid twice. Granted, you misspelled it "ABC" the second time, but still....

So... now that Penn State officially sucks at football, clearly it must be true that all of those kids are now unmolested, and Joe Paterno is automatically President of the US.

Leader O'Cola: Donnchadha: TheManofPA: FYI, PSU is now on a 65 game losing streak

Vacated wins do not translate into losses and their opponents don't get to claim them as wins.

no idea where that 65 came from to begin with....

but
Correct, but it has been It is 5398 days since they last won a game

If someone wants to do it to double check, they lost the last two games of 1997; then I counted 62 losses in 1998-2011. With no wins (all vacated) that is 64 straight losses coming into this year. This game makes 65. I was using wiki to count so I may have made an error by 1-2 games.

GO! STATE! BEAT! BOBCATS!

I don't know how to say this anymore without sounding like a part of the "football culture" the NCAA described PSU as having. I hope you all will understand that I am supporting a University that I love. I am supporting the students. I am supporting alumni, staff, and faculty.

I am NOT supporting what happened.

The students and alumni that outed and stalked the victims, particularly those STILL under 18, to the extent that one is in witness protection and another's entire family had to move in secret?

Those students and alumni?

Or the staff who physically witnessed abuse and refused to say anything because they were afraid of getting fired?

That staff?

THE CHIEFS, YOU DOLT!

Seriously. Arrowhead is consistently referred to as "similar to a collegiate atmosphere".

I'm torn about this. As a general football fan and someone who knows people who work the university I always liked PSU because I respected the hard nosed old school football they play. After what happened, not sure where I stand. I want to root for them on behalf of the students, but I also want to see them fail for a few years just to show everyone involved in the coverup that their efforts at covering up child abuse to save the football program was all in vain. I think in the end the latter wins out. I'm already tired of the resilience angles ESPN is taking. So lose for a few years and then make a comeback
