I believe UGA is ranked about 15 spots too high. 20 sounds much closer. Fuuuuuuuuu

Been thinking over this halftime. College football needs something. Something we can all relate to. With that in mind, I have updated my baby....

The SEC might actually be the most over ranked conference in the country this year. UGA, South Carolina and Arkansas - Petrino all in the top 10. I don't think any of them should be thre and I'm a UGA fan.

runaway06: Donnchadha: There are names on the backs of PSU's jerseys... wtf is up with that?

The bad news...none of you will see a bowl game in your career
The good news....you get to break tradition and have names on your jerseys!

I was talking that over with some other college football fans. We pretty much all agreed that the whole not playing a bowl game, from a football fan (and not a football revenue fan) perspective, was kind of ... meh.

There are just so damned many bowl games that we had to wonder 'what's the point?' From a fan perspective it's fun to see your team play one more game, but aside from the Rose Bowl or the championship game, it's kind of pointless. Either you end up in the championship game (and as a PSU fan, we don't really do well there), or you end up with another also-ran team that you really don't care about beating.

Preseason rankings are BS, anyway.

Chunks McGunks: steamingpile: Chunks McGunks: steamingpile: Chunks McGunks: the_ed_dawg: steamingpile: I never made excuses, I told you last night but you ignored that, I have never given you excuses I really just don't care but I do recognize more difficult conferences over a long season while other people ignore that fact.

I would pick but I know I will only be about 50% at best, its impossible to pick better unless your hobby is writing a computer program to pick for you. But I like going out in public and not subsisting on a diet of MT dew and Cheetos.

Excuses shown in bold.

I won my office pool last year at about 60% picking 20 random games a week. Not impossible by any means.

That's my point, I had a 50-50 shot at getting that right. One pick off will make you a tick higher or lower, the average person does not have the time to pick winners with more consistency. Now adding in point spreads may be interesting but indifference still rules.

Well at 20 games a week for 13 weeks it was more like 26 games over .500 but fine just diminish my accomplishment. It still made me close to $600 on a $5 entry fee!

See if the incentive is there then maybe but without that it wont peak my interest.

I wouldn't do it either. I hate having to pull for teams I don't like just because I picked them. I'm not even going to do it again with the chance of a reward. And holy Christ. The way Georgia is playing they could actually lose this game if thy give up a score here and it looks like at least a field goal.

Yeah this is bullshiat, I missed most of my games because they were teams I hated, you can never take emotion out of it if you are a real fan. In my picks UF went 5-7 one year and bama went 6-6 the year they won the NCG.

Emotions ruin picks for fans.

I can only hope they get better like they usually do, Richt has an issue with not getting teams up for opening games, it seems like he lets up on them close to game day. Its not working.

Donnchadha: Gwendolyn: I still miss Penn State/Pitt. That was the best time EVER.

Maybe it'll start up again now that there's a regime change

JoePa said, I believe explicitly that they'd play Pitt "over my dead body." That condition has been met, for better or worse. Oh the house will be rocking in 2015/16!

FriarReb98: Holy shankapotamus Ohio U!

My exact thought. The blocked punt ended up being more spectacular... 4 solid seconds of hang time!

Gwendolyn: geom_00: Donnchadha: Gwendolyn: Speaking of. Can someone explain the "THE Ohio State" thing with Ohio?

They're pretentious assholes?

Somewhat ironic considering my degree is from "The Ohio University" as well...

There are a few signs that say The Pennsylvania State University too.

No. It gets stressed by the fans. It's the stressing I'm wondering about.

A while ago Ohio University sued Ohio State University saying they could not use Ohio as Ohio University waas founded first. Court ruled in favor of Ohio State. Hence, THE Ohio State Univeristy.

Given the on-the-field evidence thus far, BYU is clearly #1 in the country - Georgia's grade = "incomplete"

/there should be no polls until at least 1/2way through the damn season
//shiat - at this point I'm ranking Buffalo - they've accomplished more than USC

All polls are shiat until week 3 or 4.

you guys think the Vols will be ranked going into next week? I mean if South Carolina is 9 and can barely beat Vandy I gotta think the Vols deserve to be somewhere up there for beating a quality opponent on a neutral site

2012-09-01 02:16:36 PM
Not the best 2 minutes of football for Miami (OH). If this was an xbox game, they'd be furiously smashing the reset button. :P

I don't think they will but I went to Memphis and my dad started at UGA and finished at Memphis so take that with a grain of salt.

Funk Brothers: Thanks BTN, the screen went black on the last play of the half. Ohio State was trying to get a touchdown against Miami and it went black. Too bad Ohio State didn't get the touchdown.

Oh good, thought that was my cable. But man, I think Miami fans wish the rest of this game was being blacked out.

2012-09-01 02:21:28 PM
Syracuse looks as terrible as they did during the GERG Robinson era. NW isn't even running plays correctly, and yet they're still getting 10+ yards.

Gwendolyn: Aar1012: Spaced Cowboy: What are the Buckeye fans chanting during kickoffs? I'm forced to watch on a shiatty online stream and the audio quality is spotty. O-H-I-O and then something else?

I thought I imagined that

I can't make it out either.

I forget what we yelled when we received kicks, but when we kicked off we yelled O-H-I-O RIP HIS FARKING HEAD OFF!

They've got a good shot at the MAC championship, or at least getting to the champ game.

Might be both, Ohio is still one of the best MAC teams. Still should be PSU on top.

wow the air went out of happy valley on that one.

/if they're trying to promote college football overseas how about giving them a game that is competitive? also having an irish mascot in Dublin just seems disrespectful. It would be like if the english premiere league played a showcase game over here where one team was the Birmingham Americans and it was a fat guy eating a cheeseburger

No more disrespectful than the dork in the Union Jack knit hat trying to do a "jig."

Ordinarily I'd be rooting for Ohio but I know that a lot of retards are going to take it as personal validation, especially some particularly sanctimonious twat Ohio alums. Go PSU!

Zack mettinger did not transfer to a junior college because "things didn't go his way" he tried to rape a drunk girl and had to be restrained then tried to get in a fight with the cops who tried to question him. He's a douchebag little biatch so I'm shocked he didn't go to auburn but lsu is close enough.

That wobbly beast, whatever it is, is the only thing keeping this game close.
